I have MG, but not diabetes. For MG, and for diabetes, an immune system is healthy with green leafy vegetables, I try to eat the rainbow of fresh fruits and vegetables to boost my immune system and keep it healthier.

Hello @ellen307

I can imagine that this must have felt like a "rocky road" as you said. MG and diabetes represent difficult dual diagnoses. A blood sugar of 1800 is very high.

Are you now under the care of an endocrinologist? If not, please get a referral to one. An endocrinologist is the best doctor to see for a diabetes problem, especially given your two diagnoses.

It would be a good idea to ask for a referral to a registered dietician as well. They can help you with planning an eating plan to keep your blood sugar better controlled.

If you care to share more, what type of symptoms were you having prior to knowing you had Type II diabetes? Are you now taking oral medications or insulin?

Thank you for your kind words, @ellen307. I'm glad to be of help. The idea of seeing a registered dietician comes from my own experience as a pre-diabetic. I found the meeting with the hospital dietician to be very helpful.

Will you please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing?

Are you by chance taking prednisone? This is known to spike blood sugar. If this is one of the meds you are taking have your Endochrinologist adjust for the glucose levels.

I’ve had myasthenia Gravis for about 30 yrs and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a year ago. Can anyone share the pros and cons in there treatment if both. I was have IVIGs for about 10 yrs and just stopped last August due to insurance problems. My MG is doing pretty good except for Ptosis with my eyes. Ian not taking anything right now for the MG (waiting on insurance approval for new drops that came out). I am however taking glipizide for the diabetes, having a hard time keeping my numbers down, even with watching my carbs and sugar. Would love some input from others.

Welcome @pkon. Managing multiple chronic conditions, for example myasthenia gravis and type 2 diabetes can be challenging, both in terms of treatment and dietary needs.

@Erinmfs @ellen307 @dwp and others may be able to offer insights on your questions.
