Living Dangerously - Nebulizer Cleaning

I marvel at the time consuming, meticulous way many, perhaps the majority, of contributors to this forum clean and sanitize nebulizers. Following the treatment session I soap and hot water “bathe” the mouthpiece then let it air dry until its next use. The tube gets no special attention except being fully disconnected from the compressor. I’ve read of some regimens aimed at sanitizing shower heads; another activity I ignore entirely. I’m closing in on 16 months free of a “flare-up” involving fever, and an antibiotic to defeat.
The lengthening periods of freedom from acute symptoms is something I attribute solely to learning about 7% saline nebulizer solution which I read about on this forum.
My comparatively minimal attention to “sanitation” may catch up with me but so far so good.

I should add that I realize many forum participants are contending with considerably more virulent pathology than I am. Don

Is the Colistin as hard on your body as Toby. I've had Toby twice in the last two years. Seems a lot tougher this time. Coughing and fatigue is rough. Hoping it does the job. Did your Colistin get rid of the Pseudomonas Aroginosa? Thanks.

Hi Fdixon63...I find it so much easier then Toby, every other month..keeps it at a distance..I’ve tried at the beginning to get rid of it with Toby and cipro, but it didn’t work

Hello, Yes I had one of those, but I am an impatient sort, and found it slower than my "turtle" (my name for my old faithful green Pari Vios) which only takes 8-12 minutes to dispense 4ml of neb solution. So I trade a little noise for more speedy therapy.
I do take it on trips where space and weight are at a premium.

Sue @sueinmn I also had a green Pari Vios that died a few months ago. I then got a Pari ProNeb Max which is about 2 minutes quicker than the green version and somewhat quieter. It does cost a little more.

I got the green Pari Vios a couple of months ago and it’s a lot faster than my older nebulizer. Any recommendations for a travel nebulizer? Insurance does not cover it. I’m finally going to visit my grand babies!!! I’ll still wear a mask because it was from my grandson two years ago that I ended up sick with pneumonia that started me down this path of bronchiectasis. I’ll be hugging them a lot though!

I got the green Pari Vios a couple of months ago and it’s a lot faster than my older nebulizer. Any recommendations for a travel nebulizer? Insurance does not cover it. I’m finally going to visit my grand babies!!! I’ll still wear a mask because it was from my grandson two years ago that I ended up sick with pneumonia that started me down this path of bronchiectasis. I’ll be hugging them a lot though!

For travel I use the PARI TREK S compact compressor. It comes with the newer and faster "Sprint" nebulizer cup. I also use this cup with my Pari Proneb Max.

For travel I use the PARI TREK S compact compressor. It comes with the newer and faster "Sprint" nebulizer cup. I also use this cup with my Pari Proneb Max.

When you got the pari trek S for travel did you buy the rechargable battery pack too? Was looking at this to buy for traveling and wondered if it is a necessary expense. Thanks for your help 🙂

I did not. All the places we visit has electricity, so for me just an added expense. Bill
