Confused: Lung cancer, pulmonary fibrosis and more

Posted by shamrock5jeg @shamrock5jeg, May 4, 2021

New to this forum. Actually, never tried any type of forum so I really don't know what I'm doing. Anyhow, after reading some of the posts I guess I am not so bad off. I have lung cancer in my right lung, pulmonary fibrosis, peripheral neuropathy, chronic pancreatitis and just developed shingles last week. Am treating skin cancer on my forehead with fluorouracil cream. Need more radiation for Basel cell on my neck. Left lung cancer was treated with SBRT and is "cured".Right lung is not being treated due to the fibrosis. Still function pretty good, Only take 4 meds. Walking is the biggest problem. Want to dance again, walk, climb stairs, drive a stick shift. Want my legs Back! Sorry I rambled on. My heart goes out the others I read about. Wish they could solve all the problems, it hurts to me to read their stories and makes mine so trivial.

Thank you. It gets hard to do sometimes especially when know you have more problems then they do. I have to fight my lung cancer and pulmonary fibrosis every minute.Need to stop saying I'm fine. Oh well, too old to change now, just keep listening to my country music and dream about dancing again. Thank you again.

You must, if you haven't already, accept your current body and it's limitations. Accept these changes, and live your life allowing yourself to rest, to adjust your activities and slow down with no apologies. Pushing to try to do more than your body should can end with you harming yourself. It's tough to do this, but we must put our new body first, helping next.
Sounds like you're doing this already.
Bless you, sir. elizabeth

Wow @ess77 . It’s like you were talking to me! I’ve had a really hard time accepting all the changes my autoimmune disease has brought about. Your words of encouragement are spot on! Thank you. Becky

Oh, you are so very welcome. these are things I'm learning with you, from the angels on this site. I had a long chat with my sweet cousin in mid-Florida last night. She's almost 80, working on this acceptance of our current lives. It's not an easy journey, Becky. But, it's not really difficult either, once you realize where you are and sit down to do some real thinking.
I did that in 2020 after several months at Mayo beginning in 2019, some results back from testing and yucky results. I had to deal with reality of my current life and current body. It took me a couple of weeks sitting in my bedroom, recliner looking out at my live oak tree and the weather and thinking. Praying. Chatting with God, speaking out loud and having real conversations.
I came from that time with a relaxation I haven't felt in many years, if ever. Less anxiety, less pain, less fear....and I began to put those parts of my life in a different place and deal with each much differently. It's amazing the changes that have come from that time. I'm so thankful.
So, there you go, my stitchery friend. We just need reminders occasionally.

Blessings, elizabeth

@hopeful33250. Thanks. Leaving in a few for the big city. Talked to my friend last night a she is really worried, does not know if she has a serious problem or not but is researching things she does not have. She has a catastrophic personality and will probably drive us both bonkers. Anyhow., thanks again.

@shamrock5jeg,
In that case, I wish you safe and relatively sane conversations as you travel. You might try distracting her by bringing up another subject. It sometimes works with catastrophic personalities (but not always). For both of you, I hope she gets a good report that encourages her.

I only have lung cancer and no hospice. @merprep I live alone in a house that is too big on too much land. And yes, I have pain. Before my 2 daughters and my wife all passed away they suffered, my pain is nothing compared to theirs.
