Yes Keri, I mean cost, you just made my day by your response...The doctor I used want to charge $5,500 cash for MRI guided nerve block because he is out of network on my insurance

ask your primary doc for an out of net work referral.to who this doc is you want to see. if your insurance accepts it then it ill be charged as an in-network cost. call your insurance company, they will be able to give you your options.

Okay, thanks Keri, I had an MRN done 2 weeks back and it came back I had an ilioinguinal nerve entrapment on my right groin after the C-section in 2013, how has your treatment and pain, I am new in this even though I have been trying to know my diagnosis for 4 years..I have moved round doctors!

since I saw a pudendal nerve specialist in AZ i have gotten better. best of luck in getting relief from you ilioinguinal entrapment. You have gotten to one of the best parts in your pain management, a correct diagnosis. Best wishes!

Hi! I've been on a similar road for a long time. Mine is not nerve entrapment, though. There is no clear cause. It is primarily the hypogastric nerves that are problematic. I've done every possible medication. I had steroid injections (although to ilioinguinal... the wrong nerves for me) and radio frequency ablation. The RFA actually sent the pain into a tail spin and created pain where there wasn't any previously, and then other providers confirmed what I suspected. Healthy nerves were killed. I still had the same old pain across my entire lower abdomen. By the way, mine was also caused by C-section in 2012. Most recently, I wound up having abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). The idea was to cut away the hypogastric nerves. I am still in need of pain medicine to manage, but have slowly and gradually become more functional since the RFA mess in Oct 2015. I just wanted to say hello, you aren't alone, and you must keep pushing for answers. I am still in the care of a Neurologist (was only seeing OB/GYN pelvic pain specialist for many years until I grew tired of not getting anywhere and referred myself out after the last straw of RFA). The plastic surgeon actually refused to file an insurance claim until literally yesterday (surgery was April 20, 2016). I had to basically back him into a corner to have it done. I doubt the insurance will reimburse me for it, but it never hurts to try. I encourage you to keep fighting the good fight. I have no answers; only sympathy. Oh, have you consulted with a plastic surgeon regarding scar revision? Maybe that could release the nerve to help it heal? I do believe that procedure is likely to be covered by insurance with adequate doctors' office notes. Best to you!

Hi Katrina, thanks for reaching out to me...It is indeed a lonely road with few travellers! I have two issues, nerve compression at the rib cage and nerve entrapment at the point of C-section, all this after childbirth, but I noticed my nerve was actually stretched when the doctors was pulling the baby out during the surgery, I guess it defines the compressed nerve but poor surgeon skill caused the entrapped nerve, the first MRN scan I did confirm the entrapped nerve at the point of incision and show little of where the nerve was compressed because the imaging did not focus on the compression, I am planning to have a 2nd MRN done which will focus on where the nerve compression was exactly, then I can now plan on how to resolve all at a go...It is emotionally, financially and time draining...But I will keep fighting!
