I am trying the B 12 drops and swishing it. Hoping this will help. Just returned from Mayo yesterday and again suggested I try Gabapentin. Has anyone used this and if so, did it bring relief or any side effects from using? I have been hesitant to use after reading all the side effects. Has it been helpful?

Hi. Yes, I am taking small amounts of vitamin B12 dissolvable tablets. I did try taking clonazepam .75 mg per day for a month, and it didn't seem to do anything ,although it has worked for many people. It has a high success rating for burning mouth syndrome relief. My E.N.T. has also recommended taking Gabapentin, but I have the same fear as you, and worry about how it could change me as a person. I'm also exploring the idea of Gaba butyric acid, or what they call Gaba. Gaba is naturally made, and it exists in the brain, but if you have a low amounts of Gaba it can cause burning mouth syndrome. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any success, and what you're trying. Thanks Stu.

Hi. Are you taking the Gaba supplement just to see if it works, or did you test low for Gaba in your body ? Please let me know what dosage you are taking, and if you see any results, or side-effects. Thanks Stu

Just taking the supplement to see if it helps. It’s something you spray under your tongue and swish around your mouth. I read it could be helpful. Found on Amazon. I haven’t been tested for low gaba. Just started using so will let you know if helpful. Thanks!

Hi. Let's hope, and pray it does help your situation, and please let me know how you make out with it. Give it some time, maybe a few weeks. If it works at all, I think you would notice a difference by then. Thanks Stu

I was told I had burning mouth syndrome and tried that. I was taking B-Complex. It didn’t get any better in fact I got worse. I believe mine was a misdiagnosis so I went to compare pictures to what saw in my mouth on Mayo’s website. My husband helped me and we both thought it looked like Lichen Planas. It’s when your immune system attacks the mucous lining of your mouth. You need to see an oral surgeon to be sure. So I made my appointment and we were right it was lichen planas. You have to change your diet by no more spicy food or citrusy food. So the sores can heal. If you have sores. See an oral surgeon. Get another opinion. There are things that can be done to help with the pain.
