Hi, not sure what to tell u but wanted to know how the Dr arrived at the diagnosis. My antinuclear something or another was very high so they think I might have fibro as well. They ckd for lupus first and decided I don't have it. What were your symptoms?
Hi, im new but I understand how u feel. I was diagnosed w/Condition &u given Lyrica it helps, but I am at max dose 3 times daily lucky husband has good insurance. I too had all kinds of tests (Emg, ct scans, mri) bloodwork, spinal tap. No answers. Just pain! Constant leg cramps. I also have drop foot both feet, had back surgery on L3 better but I can't move around. My primary dr wanted nothing to do w/me I saw his pa for 2yrs I now have specialist for neuropathy, endo neuro surgeon. I want & have hopes of going to mayo so that I can get my life back. Good luck. I tell my daughter there is a reason God has a plan. Take care

It has been a hard battle with him as it is the family doctor. The arthritis specialist; whose partner diagnosed the fibryo; I have been seeing (the specialist) since may 2005.....i have had the fibryo symptoms for 2 years before being diagnosed. The specialist doesnt want to be the one responsible for prescribing any meds beyond what she gives me to treat the arthritic sarcoidosis......(My husband calls me a medical nightmare!!!). In July I had xrays taken due to major pain in spinal area ..... i was told I have bone spurs in neck and thoracic spine area.....I also have degenerative discs in my nexk and back....yet he still doesnt want to give me anything more than hrydocodone 7.5...I am taking that as well as cymbalta. Anyone else out there having same doctor problems....don't want to start "doctor shopping" for pain meds, but am REALLY tired of having pain 24/7....it has severly affected my life style....I used to be extremely active...now I dont want to do anything. Any advice would be great.

I would question why you need Cymbalta or Pristiq. They are seritonin reuptake inhibitors. This is like adding a gasoline additive to an empty gas tank. You need to build up your depleted seritonin levels...not be running on fumes. I used to take these drugs also prescribed by Mayo doctors but after reading and researching and treating the source of the problem not just treat the symptoms, I am now off the antidepressants. Read Treating and Beating Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatique by Dr. Rodger Murphree who specializes in Fibro(for 15 years)...teaches other doctors how to treat Fibro patients and is board certified in nutrition.
i have been diagnosed with fibro for 5 years. it started 2 years earlier with migraines. my m.d. sent me to neurologist for testing. i am unable to work and retired last year. is anyone else still trying to work or has this monster taken over your life as well.
My fibromyalgia was diagnosed 6 mos ago after a surgery. Before that I had migraines,back pain, and achy and tired all the time. I am still working and love my job. It is not physically demanding. Just a desk job. I have been worried lately that I won't be able to work much longer. Anyone had success w disability payments? We can not get by without my paycheck.

I was diagnosed with Fibro about 9 months ago. I have 2 cousins with Lupas and a couple family members with the fibro. I know from my experience that nothing works as of yet. I am being sent to a orthopedic cause doc is conceren of what else is wrong.I have horrible problems with my ankles and it does affect me in every way...DRIVING is a disaster most the time.So i limit to how far i do drive.
They have me on 5 or 6 medications. Only thing that seems to help for the pain Is narcotic pain relievers. I hate taking them but have no choice. Can't take the pain
I was diagnoised with fibromyalgia about 14 years ago. I tried everything from anti-depressants, anti-inflammatory meds to natural remedies and herbs. At times I would feel so desperate I hated being inside this body. After a couple of years of being inactive because of the pain and being depressed because I couldn't enjoy life the way I use to.I gained alot of weight. I had come to accept that fact that I was going to have to live with the pain because there was nothing I could do about that but I could try to control my weight. I started taking phentermine and to my suprise after the first week I was amazed at how I was feeling. The pain was going away, I was getting my energy back, I was feeling normal again and not down in the dumps. I was able to go dancing again and do activities that I thought I would never be able to do again. I was back!!! I don't know what it is about the phentermine that works but I am living proof. I have been taking phentermine off and on again for the last 12 years. I don't have any bad side effects from it. I am 50 years old and happy with a full life. I do have some rough times when I am not on the phentermine. But I have learned to take control of my life and deal with the discomfort and when it gets too bad I just go to get back on the phentermine. I don't know if anyone else out there with fibromyalgia has tried phentermine but if you haven't I would advise you to give it a try. Just keep a watch on your blood pressure because it can increase it. I am on blood pressure medication but I have been on it for years.
