I have had a few memory problems lately, but I’m not sure if it was the Cdiff. It did so many things to me that I’ll never be over. I got mine from taking clindamycin for a sinus infection. I had 4 relapses in 3 months. During my 3rd relapse I was so sick that I had to go to the hospital by ambulance. Diarrhea probably 30 times in one night. It was constantly & I vomited at least 5 times. I passed out from weakness. My GI decided to try Deficid since I had failed vancomycin 2 times. I thought I had it made. I went 32 days then another relapse. I was down to 85 pounds. I then had an FMT. It helped me immensely. I still hurt at times & still have tummy issues. I’m limited to what I can eat without suffering. I’m try to make the best if it. My GI calls it remission because we will never be free of the spores & are more susceptible to settling off those horrible spores. I do seem to have trouble with things like spelling & I was the best at that. I seem to forget names of songs & movies as soon as I hear them. Just things like that. It’s a horrible monster to deal with. I stay anxious all the time that’s it will come back. It’s been almost a year since my FMT & I’m relieved just to be alive.

I'm having memory issues, but everyone tells me it's due to my age, stress, and not getting enough sleep or eating well. It's becoming very scary because I can remember some things, and I want to forget what happened in 2012 but that is very vivid like it happened yesterday. I can't remember what happened these last two years, and the doctors tell me everything is fine, and it's all in my head.

I didn’t have memory loss but when ever my stomach acts up I get massive anxiety and feel very strange and have to cry to relieve. I have anxiety a lot since cdiff but it happens sometimes for no reason and it is so bad that I just don’t know what to do or very it is happening. Cdiff has changed my life but not for the better😓

How long did it take you to gain the weight back? How long it took for your bowel movements to regulate? And how long you took probiotic for? Do you still take them? Yes I have the fear of going on antibiotic. I don’t think it can come back after few months if you don’t take antibiotics no?

@sswonger and @losthope, how interesting that you both have been or are involved in research about C. difficile. Great to have you in this discussion.

@sswonger, the info you provided is in reference to probiotics after fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and helps answer @judik's question about taking probiotics after FMT or not.

@losthope, did you take probiotics while on antibiotics? How long?

@mhi, if I understand correctly, you're asking about the effectiveness of taking probiotics after treatment with antibiotics. In this video, Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist Dr. Joseph Murray, discusses the benefits of probiotics on Mayo Clinic Radio, namely:
- Probiotic dietary supplements
- Difference between prebiotics and probiotics
- Fecal microbiota transplant
- Mayo Clinic's ongoing initiative in the area of microbiome research

I have had cdiff 3 times. The last time I had sepsis and was in the hospital for a week. I am on vancomycin (tapered from original treatment) every other day for 30 days. Ever since I left the hospital I have very frequent soft ( not diarrhea ) bowel movements each day. Anyone experience that. I am just wondering if it could be from the vancomycin.

You're very Welcome. I see. Yes I understand the tear would need to heal first. I hope when and if you decide to have the FMT , and are able to, that it is a cure for you as well. I think from all I've read and understand from my Doctors, it is indeed the best hope for cure of Cdiff. Especially for folks like you and me where it keeps Recurring. Take Care and my best to you.

What are all the side effects you all have had from c diff. I’m waiting on my results but I’m pretty sure that’s what I have. I’m so scared that my diverticulitis now gave me that. And I can’t catch a break. 2023 has been hard on me

I'm sorry to hear you are having so much trouble and the Meds didnt help.
I am afraid I could be getting Cdiff again. Having the symptoms. I told my Daughter yesterday I think I am heading for a Colostomy. Probably the best solution as I cant seem to ever fully get over this. I certainly wish you well on the 21st and beyond, and pray this solves your issues! I am 63.

Hi I’m 24 and for about a month and a half I have been dealing with Cdiff. I had a spinal injury back in 2015 when I was 18 and because of that I have to use a catheter and do my own bowel program to use the restroom. I battle with UTI’s because of that and that’s what caused what the doctors to believe is Cdiff. (Originally they said Colitis) I’m now coming up to the end of my Vancomycin and I still haven’t had a solid stool yet. It’s not diarrhea but is very soft and barely keeps shape. Due to me not being able to use the restroom or being able to feel the need to go to the restroom this has been a big problem. I do not have the ability to pass stool or prevent stool from passing on my own before the Cdiff. So now it’s a constant cycle of me changing clothes and taking a shower to clean myself. It makes extremely difficult to work my 24 hour shifts at the fire department. When I’m not at work, I’m in my room terrified to stand up. So I guess I’m asking if it’s normal to have this type of very soft stool while ending Vancomycin. I have read almost every post and comment on this thread and honestly it has made me worry more. Any thoughts is appreciated.
