Anyone had a problem with neuropathy after receiving the vaccine?

They said I can take Lyrica or Elavil & those both have really bad side effects. I have a very delicate stomach bc of adhesions from a surgeries so I have to be careful what I take. I live in 5 pain range all the time. My big toe hurts & feet & legs & they don't know why I have this condition. I also have pancreatic problems where I have high level of lipase & amylace. I'm just a mess. I love this support group bc I learn so much from other people.

Hi Lacey, I am hoping you get some answers from your neurologist. Please keep us informed as I am considering some dental work which would necessitate getting those numbing shots. I did have some work done 11/2 yrs. ago and did not have any increase in my SFN symptoms at that time so hope that’s true for you also. Helen

The morning meds are in a small cup by my bathroom sink, but I sometimes just overlook them. I have a 7 pm alarm for my second morphine, and I don't very often turn it off, then forget to take it. If I'm in the middle of doing something, I tap on snooze. I use my phone for all kinds of reminders, every 45 minutes to move a sprinkler and other such things.

I had my first Moderna shot this morning, and haven't noticed any reaction. It doesn't even hurt. I came home from the appointment and spent 2 or 3 hours removing the hydraulic lines from my tractor's front loader. It was a real chore, but as I was doing it, I realized it really needed to be done. It has more than a dozen hoses of different lengths, and they have been in place for decades. I have multiple bruises on my legs and arms and head. The worst bruise will be on my budget when I go to pay the bill for all new hoses and fittings. It wasn't a DIY project.

And I did all that right after getting the vaccine. My feet are hurting, but that's nothing new, nor is the tinnitus. No better, no worse.

June, what an interesting story, our bodies can be so strange! I hope you are feeling much better soon and wish you luck with the dentist visit, getting that tooth out should make you feel better in the long run. Teeth are another issue but I won’t go there!🙄😁 Helen

Thank you for starting this thread. I experienced my first symptoms of neuropathy mainly at night back in January. I also felt tired and achy, did not think much of it. After about a week it went away and was most bothersome at night, to the point it was hard to sleep. I had an appointment with a neurologist but canceled as it went away. Yesterday I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine and almost within 10-15 minutes small tingling sensations appeared. Last night was similar to what I experienced in Jan, tough to sleep with tingling throughout the body but especially arms and hands, again very hard to sleep. I now believe that I had COVID in January. I am a teacher and we’ve been in the classroom since August so my level of exposure is high. I did not get tested as my symptoms didn’t seem to align with COVID. I am hoping this bout is again short lived. I appreciate all I have read from you folks. Any advice for managing uncomfortable feelings, especially at night, is much appreciated.

Hello @rungreg, I would like to add my welcome to Connect along with @lacy2. I have small fiber peripheral neuropathy but it wasn't from getting the Pfizer vaccine. I've had both the first and second shots with just the minor sore arm around the shot the following day and the second day after the last Pfizer vaccine I had the extreme fatigue which my wife and daughter also had after the 2nd shot.

One thing I think helps since the small fiber nerves are close to the skin is to make sure you keep the feet and legs moisturized with a good skin lotion. I've been doing it regularly since being diagnosed with neuropathy. I used to use a magnesium lotion which others felt really gave them a calming feeling in their legs but recently have just used whatever is available. I may try the magnesium lotion again to see if it really makes a difference in the type of lotion. Here are the two I've used.
