Anyone had a problem with neuropathy after receiving the vaccine?

I am 85 with small fiber neuropathy that is getting worse. My neurologist thought it would be a good idea for me to wait with the covid vaccine and not be first in line to see how it affected other people with neuropathy. Probably because it is a new technology. Has anyone had a problem with neuropathy after receiving the vaccine? If so, which vaccine?

How is everyone who got a new onset or worsening of neuropathy from the vaccine doing now? I seem to be having some let up the last few days , but I am megadosing Alpha Lipoic acid, b12 and Vitalituses Palmitoylethanolamide . These have worked in the past for me also. I recommend for anyone with Neuropathy. I did report my case to VAERS. Let me know if any of you are feeling better after the neuropathy induced by the vaccine. If there are 15 or so of us here, there must be so many more suffering after the shot also. I am glad though to be protected from Covid, but holy cow there should be a warning for the neurological possiblities. Does anyone know anyone who didnt have any previous neuropathy that now has it from the shot? Regards, Joe

I am sorry to see that you also had negative experience with the covid-19 vaccine. I too had severe neurological pain, extreme cold feeling all along left side, numbness, burning, low back pain. I was barely able to walk 4 days after 1st Moderna shot. I too reported my experience to VAERS. After 18 days better but still not same as before vaccine. Soon due for second shot. Very uncertain what to do. Any information would be useful. Thank you,

@joeyd5641 , I have tried Alpha Lipoic acid but it seems that there is a reaction with it and Gabapentin. I'm not able to take the Alpha Lipoic Acid. 🙁 Did you find that the Covid Vaccine made your neuropathy worse?

Have you talked to your dr. to see if he thinks the shot causes people with Neuropathy more side effects & what you should do.
I have it in my feet & legs real bad & take Gabapentin & Cymbalta & I am afraid of the vaccine bc of the side effects.
Please keep me posted on hoe your doing. Hope you feel better.

Thank you for sharing this. I take Gabapentin as it isn’t as hard on the liver and doesn’t interfere with the anti rejection meds I’m on. I was going to ask my neurologist about ALA, to see if he thought it might help me.

I’m wondering if there are others who take Gabapentin who have tried ALA and have an adverse reaction?

What is ALA? I also have Stage 3 kidney disease so I have to watch what meds I take. The Gabapentin has made me have short term memory really bad but i don't know what else to take.

I’ve been taking them both with just a positive benefit, no adverse reactions at all. Helen

I'm take 300mg of Gapabentin 4x/day and 600mg of ALA with no side effects from the combination. Gabapentin side effects are tremors and some unsteadiness when I walk. There are two forms of ALA . I take the R-ALC form because it more bio-available then the regular ALC.

I too had a significant increase in neuropathy symptoms, plus sore muscles/joints following the vaccine, which I reported in this discussion. These leveled off, but did not decrease. On the same day as the first shot, my doctor lowered my Tacrolimus, which is believed to initially had caused my symptoms, and increased my Mycophenolate. So, being uncertain what to do and if it was the vaccine or change in medication, I did go ahead and get the second vaccine shot on March 3. My symptoms again increased, although not as much. Nor have they decreased. I reported the reaction to VAERS. I also sent an inquiry to the Mayo Vaccine Research Group - https://www.mayo.edu/research/labs/vaccine-research-group/contact

Have others contacted the Research Group?

Have you asked your doctor if there are any alternative drugs you can take instead of Gabapentin?
