Has medical marijuana helped your nerve pain?

Posted by patrick17 @patrick17, Feb 12, 2021

I have tried medical marijuana for the nerve pain in my arm and hands, but so far nothing I’ve tried has provided much pain relief. I have tried vape pens and tinctures with various combinations of CBD and THC. Just wondering if medical marijuana has helped anyone’s nerve pain. Thanks.

It clearly has helped my wife's PN pain for the past few years after almost everything else she has tried has not helped much or at all. I guess as in everything else, different people are helped to different degrees with marijuana. You tried low dose naltrexone didn't you (unless I am thinking of someone else). What else have you tried and has anything helped you at all? My wife pretty much will not do pain drugs of any kind. Hank

Hi Helen, yes, you are right. Kratom does help her pain. Unfortunately it has the effect of making her drowsy or at least somewhat "out of it" and that feeling lasts for many hours. Since she does not like that side effect she has not be using kratom that much. Good point though. Patrick, for your purposes, kratom could be something you might want to consider. Best, Hank

@patrick17 I tried MM and after discovering the tincture gave me nausea (for months, had no idea) I found the vape at night before bed helped me get to sleep. I am sure it would help during the day but I don’t care for the high feeling.

Patrick, can you tell us what it is that you are vaping to help with sleep? I am buried in taking meds for sleep and would really like to get off them. thanks for any info, hope you feel better

Hi Hank, yes I did try low dose naltrexone for about six months, but it had no effect. My worst area of pain is in my hands and compression gloves help a lot. I also take Lyrica which helps. I didn’t realize how much it helped until I stopped taking it for a while. I had to begin taking it again. Despite wearing compression gloves and taking Lyrica, I still experience a lot of nerve pain. I don’t like taking drugs either so I am hoping to find some form of medical marijuana which will help.

I have read here about people who have had success with Kratom. I also read what the Mayo Clinic wrote about it. Based on that I don’t think it’s something I’m willing to try.

Hello, I don’t use the vape pens too much any longer. They don’t have much of an effect for me. I sometimes use a tincture before bedtime. The ones I purchased were from Surterra Wellness. One tincture is called Serene and its ratio is 5 CBD to 1 THC. That seems to have a mild effect on me, but it does help with sleep. The other tincture I tried is called Zen and its ratio is 1 CBD to 4 THC. This really makes me sleepy. Unfortunately, neither one has helped much with my nerve pain.

I hope you find something that will help with your pain and sleep.

Patrick, there is a Facebook group “kicking it with CK” that is devoted to Kratom users; they have found relief from pain using Kratom when nothing else helped. The group consists of some who quit gabapentin/lyrica. Dosage is important, trial and error, always start low. For info you can google “americankratom.org” (I just read about this today so have not yet researched it myself.) Hope this may help. Helen

I asked the employees and read online to find the best vape for sleep, the employees are usually patients themselves and knowledgeable. Indica strains are what I tried. I haven’t been using since my surgery because of the meds I’m on, but will try again. The muscle relaxers help me the most right now, along with pain meds.

I understand your reservations Patrick. Lori, @lorirenee1 who is another Connect member, has had a lot of experience with kratom and uses it regularly. And she uses it responsibly. I know she is open to anyone sending her a private message if you would like to talk to her regarding it and would like to direct any questions toward a trustworthy person. Best, Hank
