Has medical marijuana helped your nerve pain?

Posted by patrick17 @patrick17, Feb 12, 2021

I have tried medical marijuana for the nerve pain in my arm and hands, but so far nothing I’ve tried has provided much pain relief. I have tried vape pens and tinctures with various combinations of CBD and THC. Just wondering if medical marijuana has helped anyone’s nerve pain. Thanks.

Hey there patrick17,
Please do not smoke marijuana products. Although that is the fastest way to get action it is also dangerous for your lungs. I just tossed all of the vapes and vape cartridges that had been in the bottom drawer for a few years. Your post reminded me.

Tinctures, to be effective are held underneath your tongue and absorbed right to your brain. This means that they do not go through your digestive system. The response is within 15 minutes with the under the tongue application. The digestive route can be 30-45 minutes or more, the product not as stable, and you are more likely to be subject to reactions.

So depending upon your distribution choice...you can judge how long it will take to feel relief and that becomes your starting point. By trying different dosages, e.g. 3:1 CBD/THC or 2:1 CBD/THC you will know when to use what. I use 3:1 for a lazy afternoon and 2:1 for bedtime. If I need to be particularly alert I use a 1:1 CBD/THC,,,, which I call my "wide-eyed and bushy-tailed" response.

If this kind of information helps you let me know.
May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris

Chris, I do hear what you are saying in regards to smoking. Not optimum to take any foreign substance into your lungs, smoke included. That being said, my wife Linda smokes at least 3 days per week. Surprisingly (to me at least) she takes in the smallest of puffs, that is all. One toke. That will relieve much of her pain for 2-4 hours, depending. Then she might take a 2nd toke sometime later. So the amount of smoke she inhales is on the low end. I bought her what some others had described as some of the best THC containing CBD oil, from which she noticed no effect. So she lost interest in that and continues smoking. She has never tried vaping as she is happy with smoking her MM. Not saying it's good to do, just another angle on it in regards to effectiveness for pain relief.. Best, Hank

I'm tired of the constant NP and am ready to try marijuana. We have legal dispensaries nearby, so I can purchase just about anything out there. Please give me some suggestions. MM only if it's better than what the recreational smoker uses. No CBD Please. A Waste of money for me.

It definitely helps me. I only use at night - diminishes pain and helps me sleep through the night.

Good evening @cekkk, I see you have been a member of Connect for a couple of years. I am glad you have discovered medical cannabis and hope you continue to find products that help you attain your desired quality of life.

Would you mind telling me why you feel that CBD is a waste of money for you? For me, finding the right balance of CBD and THC in topicals and tinctures ensures consistent and valuable results. When I started using cannabis 11 years ago I was introduced to the Indica and Sativa strains. I find the 1:1 CBD/THC or 2:1 CBD/THC products more targeted for my desired results. However, I am always ready to learn.

May you be safe and protected.

First, let me make clear that I know nothing about marijuana. I bought one I'll call it relightable cigarette on advice of a clerk at the first dispensary that opened in town probably 2 years ago. Now, one of anything is hardly a fair test. I thought it helped a little bit, but when you're unsure, chalk it up to wishful thinking.

I then went back and purchased chocolates with the strength of, I believe it was 100 mg. I did that a few times and quit because I was not seeing any significant result. That was for the discomfort I had as a result of foot drop.

Fast forward almost 4 years. The nerves that controls the muscle or muscles in my left thigh took away probably 75% of the ability to lift that leg from a sitting or lying position. And with that I am experiencing some degree of pain 24 hours a day. Some of it can prevent sleep. And it's random. For some period of time, minutes or hours, my skin might feel like it's on fire on that thigh. Other times that diminishes substantially but then my knee will hurt, and then the inner thigh. All this is punctuated with stabbing pains that really catch your attention, but only for a second.

This means the foot drop leg, the right one, has now become my good leg, as I've had years to adapt to that problem. But this pain business is bothering me. I've been advised Years Ago by the pain management person to look into marijuana, that's why I did in the first place.

But now I'm reading that you really need to be inhaling this stuff and that there are different types. I've done a little research on the Google School of Medicine site. It's telling me that to reduce inflammation I would be better off getting Delta 8, whatever that is. Hopefully the clerk at the dispensary will know. I'm not sure it makes a big difference between 8 and 9. maybe he can inform me. Anyway, I believe I'll give that a shot today. We now have a second legal dispensary that is less than a mile and a half from our home, so I will stop in there.

As for CBD, I tried it in several forms 4 years ago and got zip in return. As a matter of fact, I still have some oil and some salve here in the medicine cabinet. Perhaps you can advise me as to what I might findhelpful.

Thanks for your response.

Hi I am new to the group .I have NP and hard time sleeping .The Gabapentin does not help after a week or so and hated the hangover. Gummies helped for a while. The kind with THC interesting when you take them when you go to bed it takes a hour or two to kick in. So when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom I would be stoned .It didn't remove the pain but let me move it out of my mind and I could get back to sleep . I also didn't like the hangover. Now I have a three pong attack that seems to be working, I started them all together so I cannot said which is the best I went to a acupuncture doctor, started to walk a mile a day and taking a supplement called N-Balance8.I do not know which is helping the most or all so I do not want to change it because i can sleep and not dragging the Next day . I am a 80 yearold male Jim Donohue good Luck

Hi
I have said a few thing about my PN, You know how it goes...first it works and then it doesn't. My trial and error with PN has been going on since 2016. Yep, lots of fun and games. One thing that has been consistently beneficial is rubbing in pure THC lotion on my feet at night, right before bed to lessen the pain.
This group is a wonderful place to find information and know we are NOT alone with these nasty pains. Best wishes to all of us!!!
