When things just don't get better

Posted by daphne47 @daphne47, Dec 30, 2020

I have depression and anxiety that stem from ptsd, abuse/neglect. I've fought my entire life for my sanity, making good steps with my mental health. Then boom, chronic illness. Fought this too. But I haven't had much relief or answers for 15 years. I'm burnt out pretty good right now and really hopeless. Not sure if my situation can change. Just feel I'm losing myself. I take medication and see a great therapist. This is not just a one time low...just tired of fighting for nothing. Can anyone relate? I'm not trying to get anyone down, everyone's situation is different, I guess I just want to express myself cause I don't have a lot of people to say this to. I understand accepting things, but it just seems like my life is stuck, whatever I do. I'm not afraid to live with disabilities, but, physically, my body is kicking my own arse. Feeling alone, defeated, and defective.

Yes I can relate. Hang in there
I miss my husband and grandson who is mentally ill
No hugging anymore. For 10 years I have been a caretaker, had heart surgery bypass, my daughter had a stroke at 38 years old. Millions are suffering now. If you can try to talk to friends maybe order lunch in, talk to people while social distancing and masks if necessary we. Things have got to get better soon
Best of luck to you Diane

It’s that deep dark hole we travel to at times isn’t it? I have heard thousand times that I’m not alone and it does help to hear it but a hug would help more.. so I’m sending you virtual hugs and hope this day gives you sunshine and love❤️🌻🌈

marjou, sorry have been out of town since last Tuesday! Santa Se has some special things. We take it for granted living in ABQ.

I understand. I have been dealing with major depression for 25 years. For the last 15 years have been stuck and don’t seem to get better. I may feel better emotionally but still have a hard time being productive. I also have ptsd and anxiety. I have sleep problems and a lot of physical pain.

Hi, welcome to Connect. That is a very long time to be dealing with depression! Another member, Jim @jimhd , has been dealing with it for a similar length of time, perhaps he may chime in here as well. He uses an extensive array of things which allow him to "maintain" and be functional. Can I ask, what started your road to depression and what have you been doing to cope with it? Also, what is the source of your physical pain? What you are living with sounds horrendous. I hope you read through some of the discussions here on Connect. You will find that not only are you not alone, but there are a variety of ways people find to deal with their various issues, some with good success. Best to you, Hank
