When things just don't get better

Posted by daphne47 @daphne47, Dec 30, 2020

I have depression and anxiety that stem from ptsd, abuse/neglect. I've fought my entire life for my sanity, making good steps with my mental health. Then boom, chronic illness. Fought this too. But I haven't had much relief or answers for 15 years. I'm burnt out pretty good right now and really hopeless. Not sure if my situation can change. Just feel I'm losing myself. I take medication and see a great therapist. This is not just a one time low...just tired of fighting for nothing. Can anyone relate? I'm not trying to get anyone down, everyone's situation is different, I guess I just want to express myself cause I don't have a lot of people to say this to. I understand accepting things, but it just seems like my life is stuck, whatever I do. I'm not afraid to live with disabilities, but, physically, my body is kicking my own arse. Feeling alone, defeated, and defective.

marjou, Just finishing reading the Mayo Clinic's new book on Fibromyagia! Talks about reseting! It says puts changes in your day! Gave example of the 20/20/20 rule of spliting up your day. The book from the Mayo Clinic called, "Guide to Fibromyalgia"! Has a lot of basic things we should all do to help ourselves. We know we have New Years Resolutions! This goes deeper into changing how we live our life!
I can see how this last 10 months have made my symptoms of either Lyme Disease/Fibromyalgia worse!
I know we are supposed to stay in and unexposed! But using a little comon sense means getting back to how we were 10 months ago!
I don't want to get into that discussion! I just know how I've shut down and made my symptoms worse!
I have gone through 75 years of learning Optimism! My dad through everything he went through was the eternal Optimist!
So I've spent the last two weeks trying to find answers as to what I need to change. I skept my Silver Sneakers classes, hardly went out of my house.
As several doctors have said we need to use comon sense! Are we one of the people with one of the four underlying conditions? If so remane quarintined. If not get out, but use comon sense! There are pleny of tests sites around, get tested every week if you have been around others. Just because you test negative one week dosen't mean you are negative the next week. If getting the vacine will make you feel comfortable do it! As one medical person said, if you get both vacines then carry on with your life!
I know this week will be Stressful for all of us in the US!
We need to carry on our Life and look for enjoyment, happiness, and gratitude for others.

Have turned offers down to move elsewhere,!
Would you happen to know any people who do body work. My person who worked on me for 20 years retired 10 years ago.
Keep m posted if you do know someone!
Thanks,

You are NEVER alone! Hi, I'm Sharon, and I believe my story is very similar. I suffered from depression, nervous breakdowns (2), shock treatments (which restored a majority of my mental health) for about 20 years. After God truly healed me of that I started getting almost daily Migraines for 30 years, trying every med, given up on by several docs, therapy, etc., before a Neurologist found the answer for me. Be assured that God loves you and wants the best for you. we humans are imperfect and won't answers quick, but HIS timing is perfect! Hang in there and don't ever give up!

Hi, you have piqued my curiosity when you said

"I started getting almost daily Migraines for 30 years, trying every med, given up on by several docs, therapy, etc., before a Neurologist found the answer for me"

What was the answer that he found? My wife has been suffering almost constant headaches for over a year, not sure if they are migraines or not though. Are you now free of your headaches? Best, Hank

Good morning. Woke up at 6am with bright migraine aura and wondered if anyone gets this?
Started classic migraines when about age 12.... typical, but always with aura of bright zigzag moving curve in vision first then of course pain one side of head, then vomiting... in those days most they gave was one aspirin Had from 4 to about 10 but never kept note of. I even kept working in office through one as in those days you just did! But in I think mid 40s was getting the aura (lasts about 20 to 30 minutes) but just mild headaches after which was amazing (although thats when other numerous medical problems started)... but still get that aura. It starts with tiny "blind spot" and grows into almost letter ZZZzzzZZZs joined together in semi circle and that pattern gets wider and wider and moves and eventually goes out of vision and its hard to tell which eye as its brain not eye, I think. Could not drive when having one as vision obscured.... Still upsetting and never know when going to get one. I am just wondering if anyone knows what triggers these. Also sad to read when people are still getting the painful headaches.... honestly, I feel for anyone who has any illness , and these multiple illnesses are stressful in another way with combining and mixing several or many types of meds..... was given a new prescription yesterday for ibs-d to pick up today and am sure it will have either interactions with what I am already taking or side effects. Stress and more stress... Hank, hope you/your wife can find out some way to stop daily headaches.. J.

I'm glad to report I am about 95% free of Migraines. When I do have one it is my fault for eating food I know I am allergic to. The med my Neuroligist found that WORKS for me is Candesartan - 2mg in am and 2 mg at night. It is a low dose Blood Pressure med -- go figure! Tell your wife not to give up and work closely with a doctor because you never know what will work.

Hi
Thank you for asking
I’m doing good today, but just so fearful ,like waiting for the anxiety to ‘kick in’
No getting away from it
I find it so good getting out in fresh air and getting my walk in ,as I call it
Just dragging me down
The defibrillator is working well, just in a vicious circle but take comfort from this kind group

Thanks JS. Linda thinks they are cause by change in the barometric pressure. She is absolutely convinced of it. What do I know, maybe they are? She occasionally gets ocular migraines. Her vision begins to disappear and sometimes does disappear. She see colors and striations as she describes it. These are never couple with pain as far as I remember her saying. Your childhood migraines sound horrid! Sounds like the pain from them has calmed down, which is wonderful.

So are things improving at all between your husband and yourself now that you both know that what he is exhibiting is likely caused by the heart surgery in some way? Knowledge is definitely power. Best, Hank

Hi again, sorry I seem to be getting replies and posts out of order.... after clicking on email notifications. Yes my "migraines" are now ocular. Tiny spot or loss of vision then its like as I think I said bright zig zags joined together but moving and get bigger and bigger til go out of line of vision - I think its form the brain (like tinnitus from brain not ears)... and then feel like heck rest of day or night... like Linda I have tried to figure out if a trigger but honestly cant find one... I can eat chocolate or not; "old" cheese; weather change; stress.... its just not detectable. I did have stressful day yesterday, saw Nephrologist etc. but all my days are stressful. Yes thanks Hank, I read about the mental health results of heart surgery in some people, mostly men but its documented. I didnt really discuss this with husband though , just knowing it myself has helped. J.
