What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

What a difference a day makes - nice yesterday, not so today. Sleet, ice followed by snow for the rest of the day to the tune of 5 to 6 inches of that heavy wet stuff. Good thing the bird feeder was almost full. First photo was yesterday and the second 2 were from this morning.

@johnbishop John, how lovely. You have very happy, thankful precious birds. I'm naturally glad you have them keeping you company and giving you joy.....but I kinda' wish they'd found their way south to my patio in north Florida! Enjoy and thanks for sharing.....btw: what do you feed them? Some sunflower seed and what's the larger cement color? Also, when will you see a break in the winter? Spring? We have redbuds, azaleas in full bloom, trees are bursting with green and pollen!!!! Pollen everywhere! I love learning about the different lives and weather..... blessings to you and your friends.

@lioness Hi, lioness. Back East? Did you move recently or was this in a past life? Also, don't you like pigeons? are they the primary feeders now? I have mourning doves come visit in pairs and coo all around my place....love it, but that's not pigeons. I've never had a pigeon....blessings to you and your little guys...elizabeth

The larger roundish pellets are peanut suet.

@johnbishop Thank, John. I've never offered peanut suet to my bird friends. I'll get some and try it. Who especially like this? Mix with sunflower seeds? blessings to you and your birds! elizabeth

Well, the picture out my window isn’t beautiful birds signaling coming spring. We’re back to winter, for today at least. This is the county park behind my house just after sunrise. We had about 18-20” of heavy snow. ☹️

@lioness Where in east? Sounds like plans I had with my son years ago, when he was in his 30's and marriage and kids were being discussed. I planned to move to NC to live nearby and help w/childreen. Life happened.....he developed dystonia and lives across street from me here in Fl, getting Mayo specialists help!!!! No marriage nor children and my health negates that focus as well. So, it's worked how it's worked........but, we both enjoy the birds and feeders are so much fun.....AND I tend to feel pretty angelic helping them through the winter, slow food season. Love watching the big birds, hawks, eagles, buzzards, and water birds like cranes and egrets. They all fascinate me....not thrilled when out with my small white poodle or now my son's little white havanese running around bring joy to the world! The hawks and owls often circle above as we she walks, runs and plays.....just the right size for a meal, so we have to watch and protect. Horrid thought! I've been enjoying your posts on several sites. Blessings, elizabeth

Becky it’s still snowing here. We have about 5 inches so far and hopefully not much more before it stops this evening.
