Comprehensive Collaborative Team Approach to Care

I have been trying to navigate the Mayo system and understand that in the general Internal Medicine department there is a program where a patient is given a General Medical Exam by an Internist who then plays quarterback and brings in Specialists who for a Comprehensive “Multi-Specialty, Integrated, Collaborative and Team”, which I’ll call MICT. However, I don’t see it described on the Mayo website. Meanwhile, per the below, I did see almost “exactly” the same on Cleveland Clinic’s website. I’d prefer to go to the Mayo Clinic - but don’t want to travel 1000s of miles (from Florida) only to find out the Mayo program I was wrong and Mayo’s program is not the same, and be disappointed. I also have only one chance financially to get this right (to go to a top academic medical center). I’d favor Mayo too due to the rankings, kindness I’ve come across in the administrative staff and lower cost (lodging etc). Does anyone have any thoughts on this and/or can answer my question? I do not think a program like the one you describe exists at Mayo. HOWEVER, once you see a doctor at Mayo, s/he will “pull in” other specialists as needed.

Thanks. I see I forgot to include the website describing the Cleveland Clinic program (National Consultation Service). It is exactly what I am looking for. From what Mayo has told me, it seems Mayo has the same program though I haven’t seen it defined on Mayo’s website. Do you (or anyone) again know if Mayo has this same program? Any insights (by anyone and everyone) would be appreciated beyong words.

Since Colleen Young has been so good at pulling in others for comnents, how do I contact her too?

I just wonder why they don’t lay it out (summarized) like Cleveland Clinic does.

I’m also going to try to get Colleen’s perspective but thank you again. Excellent articles.

John - one of the articles you sent said the Cleveland Clinic copied their model of patient care (multi-specialty, integrated, collaborative team) approach from the Mayo Clinic. Interesting. Thank you again.
