What causes an episode of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs)?

Posted by robbie1956 @robbie1956, Sep 14, 2020

Always wondered what causes an episode of PVCs; not just a daily skip or run of 4 or several skips...but an episode that lasts on and off for days or weeks but then just seem to subside and go away for quite awhile....

Google nano cbd before you buy it. New thing. Supposedly stops it from having to go thru ur liver, so that bad thing goes away and only 1/10th as much needed. I am testing tommy chong version... 3wks on it, I MAY feel some better...

Hi, I’ve been reading articles on this CBD. Tommy Chong version? Thanks for the information..I never kept up with the new world and medical uses of marijuana compounds...in fact, having googled the topic I came upon 3 different shops that carry all different kinds of the oil ...all within a 10 mile radius.

@dvdhoover hi, thanks for the information as I will certainly ask my Cardiologist about it when I see him next week..today was miserable...PVCs some bigeminy, waiting in the line at the bank and it’s...well we all know ... but I’ve read some articles on this and I’m cautiously optimistic about this CBD...

One of my Electrophysiologist agreed with me that the effects of CBD on the heart is the same effects that it has on seizures. He had described what was going on in my heart an electrical storm and I told him that was exactly how they described the seizures in the brain that the only FDA approved CBD product, Epidiolex treats and has changed those people’s lives. I hope that someone gets serious about doing the research that it deserves.

@dvdhoover thanks, I will mention this CBD, and Epidiolex to my Cardiologist Wednesday among other things like Vagus nerve irritation, changes in posture and GI symptoms (hiatus hernia, GERD, bloating, belching) and see what he says. I will get the usual ECG and he might order another Echo Cardiogram and possibly put on a monitor ... but thanks again for the information..

Do you take the CBD oil orally or apply it topically (if so where?)

I thought that I had responded to your question about how I take it, but I don’t see it here. I take a 25 mg full spectrum gelcap in the middle of the day, at least 4 hours after I have taken my morning medications. I have a bottle of the same full spectrum CBD tincture that I use if I can’t sleep. A few drops under my tongue. I use the topical on the many painful areas. I have found that my chronic pain has decreased quite a bit just from the capsules. The VA he’d me on 450 mg of morphine a day to control the pain! Now I only take some Tylenol when needed and a little topical on my lower back or whatever the pain is. I buy mine from “Populum because they have a high quality product and they give veteran’s a 40% discount.

I’ve been reading about nano cbd and it’s very interesting to say the least. Do you know of a particular quality brand ? I live in Texas so I couldn’t get the “Tommy Chong” because of its THC level. Avoiding the liver would make a big difference in a lot of ways!

I just wanted to add that I also have some serious GI issues like chronic gerd, and a condition called Narcotic Bowel Syndrome or NBS. My gallbladder was removed in 2014 and was followed by internal bleeding from the stints that they placed in my biliary duct when they moved and cut me up. I’m supposed to get an ERCP done every year to keep it clean, but the VA has delayed doing one for 3 years now. I’m using my Medicare to have it done at UTSW here in Dallas. I was just notified that it’s scheduled for October 13. I’ve lost about 50 lbs since January. I also have issues with my Vagus nerve that was just made worse by the new defibrillator I got 2 weeks ago. They decided to add a 3rd lead that is useless now because they missed the spot and every time it fires it causes my abdominal muscles on my left side to contract and it feels like I’ve been punched in the gut which isn’t good when my gut hurts 24/7. It’s caused by the EMI effects on the Vagus nerve. The voltage had to be reduced to a point that its no longer effective so it’s just useless now. And to top it off I have an abdominal hernia that has become huge because it’s not considered an emergency. I’m nervous about what might be found in my biliary duct after all this time.

I have 4 arrhythmias a fib, atrial flutter, V tach, and SVT. I discovered the magic of CBD oil in December of 2017 after a year of either shocks by my defibrillator or electro cardio conversions. A failed ablation attempt to treat the afib in 2001 before aortic root surgery. Pain and anxiety was always a factor in the more serious events. During a Dr’s appointment at an electro physiologist’s office to discuss a total ablation, I met a woman in the waiting room and she told me how CBD oil had pretty much stopped all of her arrhythmias. I got the name of the company that she got it from “Populum “, did some research and ordered my first bottle of CBD oil. I went from constant afib, to a total absence of any arrhythmias after taking it for just two days ! My afib was greatly reduced in just 5 hours after my first dose. Don’t take my word for it, google “CBD for arrhythmias“ and read the findings from the NIH.gov and several other articles about its effectiveness. My electrophysiologist couldn’t be the difference when he connected to my defibrillator. I went from hundreds of recoded events to just a dozen small ones in a 3 month period, and was only 3 when it was checked last week. Don’t just start taking it until you have done the research for yourself. CBD effects the p450 liver enzyme which is responsible for medication break down, especially Coumadin. It’s just a matter of slowly increase your dose of CBD and don’t take it within 4 hours of any other medications. My INR has been on track and for the first time in 20 years I don’t have any arrhythmias. I have an artificial aortic valve that used to drive my anxiety to the moon during bad arrhythmias like SVT or atrial flutter. Those folks that have an artificial valve know the click click click that you can’t ignore especially when your heart’s beating fast or erratic.

I'd like to share my experience with arrhythmia and marijuana.
My arrhythmia was diagnosed back to 2016.
Number of PVCs by years:
2016 - 2030
2017 - 9578
2018 - 14319
01.2021 - 4056
06.2021 - 18604
08.2021 - 12525
From 07.2021 - till 08.23 I was on Propafenone. The last holter was on the drug.
I was going to have my ablation 08.25.
Accidentally, I met my friend on weekend and we smoked MJ. It was 2 days before the ablation, but after the last holter.
Later I went to the hospital to have my ablation. At the beginning they did me ECG. Doc said that they didn't see any arrhythmias. Then they took me to the procedure room, where they connected me to more advanced ECG monitor. They waited like 15min, and no any PVC happened. Then they gave me some hard drug to stimulate my heart. It literally was jumping out of my chest. No PVC after another 15min.
Then docs decided to put 24h holter on me.
Next day I was very surprised when doc came to me and said that they didn't know how to explain that - there was only one PVC during 24h holter. Which is better than in a healthy person.
I have no explanation either. I tried almost everything to get my condition normalized previously - I was jogging, swimming, I took massages, long vacations, yoga. Nothing changed my holter results so drastically.
Just wanted to share this in case someone had similar experience.
P.S. I'm not MJ smoker. The previous time I smoked, was like 4 years ago.
P.P.S. Marijuana can cause arrhythmia even for healthy people. For people suffering from arrhythmia MJ can cause cardiovascular complications. They are known med facts. Be care.

Ok so I read that you use CBD with arrythmia, I have a PVC a extra heart beat and I was wondering if I could use CBD or if it would hurt me. I'm only 31 so yeah I'm still learning. My CBD have 0.03% of THC in it. I'm using the vape pen.

I have had occasional PVCs for many years. However, I had a hysterectomy 3 months ago and since then I’m having them every day and some spells of one or two a minute for hours. I’ve gone back to the cardiologist and all blood work and holter monitor were normal of course showing the PVCs. I have been prescribed 25mg Metoprolol. How do I learn to live with these that they won’t kill me according to my doctor. They’re causing me extreme anxiety which makes them worse. PLEASE I need advice. I feel I’m spiraling. Did the metoprolol help with any ones PVCs?
