I'm 64 and had the HoLEP procedure this past July and went from a garden hose trickle to a firehose concerning flow. I highly recommend this procedure. One night in the hospital to monitor bleeding then you go home and almost no pain. I've been doing great ever sense and don't have to take the med's anymore. No issue with ED. I did have to exercise my Kegel muscles to strengthen my pelvic floor which supports the urinary system. I'll be happy to answer any questions y'all have on my experience with this procedure. Like joenfl2017, I sleep through the night and the BPH is gone.

Enjoyed your post. Thinking of doing the same. Tried the Urolift which was useless. One question. Did the urologist recommend sleep apnea may be the problem with the sleeping part? Seems weird to me but I had to ask you. Thanks

The Urologist did ask if I had issues sleeping or been tested for sleep apnea. I don't have any issues sleeping and never been tested. Guess I should have asked them about it but it's not a problem for me. I suppose they are thinking that sleep apnea may be causing the waking up to pee vs. the enlarged prostate. I thought the question was weird as well.

Congrats on your successful surgery. Guys posting below about sleep apnea. I have had it for over a decade using CPAP. Urologist never mentioned that as a cause for BPH.

I had the HOLEP (Holmium Laser Enucleation Procedure) done at the Mayo clinic seven years ago. At the time the Mayo Clinic was one of very few hospitals in the country that did this procedure. The operation made a big difference in my life.. I may have set a record for most Mayo urological operations in one year. In addition to the HOLEP I had two bladder procedures and a nephroureterectomy. Life is certainly more comfortable than it was a few years ago. Good luck and I hope you have the same positive outcome that I did.

I would run to Mayo (in AZ) if I could but sadly they do accept Medicare as full payment.

I had a TUNA procedure done in Feb of 2000. My urologist told me at that time the procedure would last about 15 years if I was lucky. It is now 2021 and I have had no problems since my surgery. My last prostate exam was 5 months ago and the urologist was very pleased with how my prostate felt. She said it was very smooth and only slightly enlarged. At 74 yrs old, I don't think I will ever need surgery again. Not sure if a TUNA is right for your situation or not, just wanted to share. Best of luck.
