Icy feet and ankles with Small Fiber Neuropathy....anyone?

Hello neuropathy friends. I am looking for information that talks about ice in your feet and ankles from Small Fiber Polyneuropathy. Recently, my feet feel like they have been hanging over the edge of a chair in a bucket of ice. No pain, unless you think freezing feet is painful. Just mysterious. I have had hot and painful but not cold and freezing. Toes still have the tingles and bottoms of feet are numb. Just can't get rid of the cold, cold, cold.

May you have peace and ease today.
Chris

@artscaping The first symptom of SFN I experienced back in June 2016 was cold feet, and that's continued as a constant.

Chris @artscaping, I've wondered if it might be that the small fiber neuropathy makes it hard to differentiate between cold or hot. I have had times when my feet were telling they were freezing even though I could touch my feet with my hands and they didn't feel cold...weird. I did find an article that mentions it.

Same here, John. My feet "think" that they're freezing, but they're not cold to touch. Weird!

Hi Chris @artscaping . I join the cold feet club! Often a normal cold but then there is the burning cold. I have no numbness and can sense temperature differences but, go through frozen feet Syndrome (as I call it). Winter is brutal...sherpa lined slippers/boots (bigger size) over loose fuzzy socks. But, when my feet hurt and have pressure and cant be confined I use my microwave heat pack to bring them back. My heat pack is the best, cheapest investment. That and self massage to get those nerves functioning. Have you tried warming massage oils or creams? It happens to me in the summer as well and my feet still turn purple (but not as often as last year). 👍🏻 Hope this helps your little piggies. Be well- Rachel

Hi Rachel, thanks for the question. Yes I have MFR on my feet so I can drive. I will talk to my therapist and see what she can do. Never thought of MFR. You are so on it.

I am so glad this topic came up! Only the last two weeks have I had the freezing feet. One time I took two vicodins for the pain (usually only one) also Benadryl, also heating pad, electric blanket and husband gently massaging. It took two hours for me to quit hurting so I could sleep. My doctor has not finished testing me so she is unsure if it is sfn, but a doctor ten years ago said it is. But the cold cold feet is new and I am glad to know that might indicate a real diagnosis finally. Thanks!

@maryflorida, My feet are cold all night. But thanks to a warm cat, acetaminophen PM, Prazosin and Tramadol, and my ResMed BiPap,I sleep pretty well most nights.

I think I do need a cat.... Is this new for you? As I mentioned it is new for me. But sure does answer my questions. Thanks! Glad you found relief.
