My 16 yo still doesn’t have her period

Hello. My 16 year still doesn’t have her period and the doctors think it’s strange. I got mine when i was 13. She gets a good amount of discharge and stomach cramps. But everything has developed including her breasts for a while now.

Today my daughter said she had a lot of discharge and then later it was dark brown. My thought was because my daughter has been on a fast for 2 days and ate a big piece of a brownie. Can anyone explain what’s going on?

@cimone88 - It is not unusual to get your period around 16. You say she has breast development and vaginal discharge. It sounds like she is getting ready for the first period. The brown discharge is another indicator. Don’t worry at this point. If another year passes, she could be checked out. She sounds normal to me. There are many factors involved in the timing of the first period. Hereditary, nutrition and general health. Girls who are very active in competitive sports are often delayed.

Thank you so much. I was just worried because there was no blood in the underwear at all. It was just discharge. And her doctors were even sending her to the endocrinologist because they couldn’t figure out what’s wrong and everything has been fully developed for a whole 2 years now.

Cimone88, I have Grandchildren and some experience that may help. My 18 year old just graduated and attending college. She’ll be 19 in February. Her time started just 2 Summers ago. Her Mom didn’t even explain. ?? So on a vacation sitting on a bed she took her wet suit off. Her flow was pink then got red as her Mom took a while to get pads back to her. My Son told me in private, as his wife explained her Mom taught science and told her when you start bleeding put one of these in. Any questions just ask. I thought she could have gotten her a towel and been nice. They just let her sit in it.
When I was young I got cramps and first time saw brown sticky stuff. Ended. Next time 3 wks- later same, but more then melted out to a warm brown flow and next day got red then a lot for 5 days and toward the end was brown again. I learned to pour warm cup of water to clean up easier. For cramps took Midol back then or old fashioned hot water bottle. Craved chocolate and more when pregnant at age 24. God bless. I hope this eases your mind and all goes well. Warm baths. No douch stuff.Violet

Granddaughter. Her Mom did put her on the pill as her periods lasted 10 days with 2 weeks between. Did help regulate & less flow. Myself and my Daughter( her Mom) we got migraines so had to stop pill.
A neighbor has Morphans like Lincoln real tall and heart replacement valves at 48 then another valve at 49. She never discussed with her Mom as she had two Sisters on their period, so Mom thought all on time. But she developed breast at 18 then started when Summer came. She felt development slow as really tall like 6’ in 6th grade. Hope this helps 2.

Quick item also. You mentioned fast for 2 days. That may play a part. My Step-Daughter very unhappy at home stopped eating much and lost 40lbs. When we won custody she had stopped having a period for a year. Also ran a lot for stress. Took her to Obgym at 15.5. She was malnourished, the lady doctor had to put her on a light dose pill to get her started again. She also had large cystic pimples on face we got treated and on celexa for anxiety only for a year as things got much better. She did well in school, worked at local theatre and saved up for her first car. Gained weight and got off the pill. Violet
