Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Posted by arlene7 @arlene7, May 27, 2020

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

It sounds like you have a positive experience to share.

Your mother starting taking Evenity and it appears to be working, as she fell recently and did not break bones.

May I ask if her provider ever had any insight into why Prolia shots did not work?

May I ask how the medication Evenity is going? How will you know if there are improvements?

@rita55 It can't be easy to live in pain and I hope you find relief.

You said that you cannot afford to go to Mayo Clinic. Does that mean you are unhappy with your current care and/or you feel you are in need of care you are currently not receiving?

@erikas @rita55 I have not been on any osteoporosis drug yet, so I can't comment on pain from them, but I have had pain from other things. Living with relentless pain can be very draining. I hope you can get some relief from one of these pain relievers. I used to get tremendous relief from ibuprofen, particularly when I took it for my bursitis, but now the only OTC I can take is acetaminophen.

Have you tried taking ibuprofen?

Patty,
I have had 9 shots with no side effect other than slight discomfort on injection sight for about a day. My shots are on the back of each of my arms. Also, please review previous replies. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Hi! My doctor has prescribed Evenity for my osteoporosis. I’m extremely afraid of the major cardiovascular side effects. Does anyone know how long these major side effects last (i.e. most at risk for 3 days after injection)? Also, why does this medication cause those particular side effects when other osteoporosis medications do not? I’m expecting to get a call soon to set up my first shot so any information would be greatly appreciated.
