Pacemaker surgery & precautions

Posted by lov @lov, Dec 21, 2019

I am reluctantly having pacemaker surgery on Monday due to AFib. What do I need to expect and avoid afterwards? Anyone have a problem with using their cell phone or tablets afterwards? Thank you!

I also reluctantly got PM for A/V node dis function / aFib. Heart pauses disappeared immediately and I feel much better. I had them adjust settings to allow heart rate to go a little faster for treadmill workout. So if you like to exercise, mention settings. No trouble w iPhone or iPad.. just remind myself to not carry them within 6-8” of PM. Going through airport security , I go through body scanner.. no problem. My PM doesn’t stop my aFib episodes.. I take Sotalol/ Diltiazem since Sept. and haven’t had any episodes. Oh, I do feel PM, it makes that area achy sometimes. Good luck Monday!

I had a pacemaker for many years and had no issues with my phone or any electronic device. I also at the time worked for the power industry and was worried about being around high voltage transformer and huge generators like Hoover dam but no ill affect at all for over 10 years. So i would not worry about interference. But for metal detectors i did get hand checked rather than going thru them. But the xray type detector at airports were no problem.
