Neuropathy & Exercise

How have you received enough physical exercise while dealing with neuropathy?? Do you walk in spite of the condition; tiptoe to get around; particular exercise program, etc.?

Love the Coyote! I've been watching for snakes here. I run the trails, the snakes hibernate for winter, in the spring, they have their babies and exit - hungry and grouchy. I asked a friend, an elderly farmer, what date the snakes would wake up - he said 'when we've had at least a week of temperatures in the 60's and above'. We've had that now. I'm from the southwest, we had rattlesnakes. Here they have copperheads. Peggy

@pfbacon . Ug I dont know which snake is worse . I dont like snakes period . My son had boa constrictors in college . He brought it home over the weekend . It got out of the aquarium he had it in . went into my couch . Boy I got him up quickly and made him get it and put it under lock and key sort of . Dont know if it was a boa constrictor or some other long snake but I think it was .

NOTE from the Community Director
Hi all. This is a friendly reminder to stay on topic. Please see Guideline #4 of the Community Guidelines https://connect.mayoclinic.org/page/about-connect/tab/community-guidelines/

Tangents will happen. We're human after all and conversations often diverge. In this case, it's animals and pets that have inadvertently grabbed the attention of a few members. Indeed it is often pets that keep us active, so one could argue that it is still on topic. However, for people seeking advice on appropriate exercise for neuropathy, the number of non-relevant email notifications may be a nuisance.

For pet and animal lovers, I invite you to join this discussion:

Now, back to the topic at hand. What exercise adaptations are you making during the stay home rule?

@colleenyoung my neuropathy exercise is to keep moving. Unfortunately today it was moving 8” of snow off my deck. I would rather be using my Sand Dune Stepper which feels good on my feet. 🙃

I have seen five cottonmouth moccasins in my neighborhood and one neighbor here took a picture of a coral snake on their patio.

Oh, Yikes, Jane! You'll understand if I postpone my visit for dinner for awhile...uh do those varmits hibernate during your winters??? Maybe we could reschedule for next Feb??? I'll bring the wine and could also bring along a prairie dog native to our area and sometimes the bane of local farmers...but they are close cousins of the Feb. groundhog so maybe????
