Restless leg syndrome is affecting my sleep: What helps you?

Posted by linedancer18337 @linedancer18337, Jul 29, 2019

I am going nearly crazy with restless leg . My feet feels like something crawling in them. I have had very little sleep and that is making me so tired and causing more problems. Can anyone help? I am desperate.

@linedancer18337 welcome to Mayo Connect. I see you have Lyme disease. I am sure that is a major problem for you. Restless leg syndrome may be caused by sleep apnea and since you mentioned trouble sleeping and being tired, it might be worthwhile to ask your doctor if a sleep study would be a good idea. We are not doctors so cannot tell you a diagnosis, so that is why I suggest consulting your doctor. If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, then using a CPAP machine should reduce the restless leg syndrome. There are also meds you can take for it. Lyme disease can also cause rls. There are a few other causes as well, so again seeing a doctor to eliminate them would be what I would recommend. Please come back and let us know what is happening as you seek answers.

It’s a miserable problem. There is an OTC made by Magnilife called Relaxing Leg Cream that has helped me. A hotpad is also helps.

I have seen doctors and also been to Er twice. No one seems to know much about restless legs and cannot help me. I am still desperate. Does anyone know of a specialist near Parksley Va?

That drug is a very dangerous drug . I have just been taken off of it cold turkey . That is probably why I have RLS so severely.

Thank you , I have tried hot and cold packs. I have it so bad. Has anyone used the weighted blanket? I order a machine to massage my feet ,can’t wait to try it.

Where do you purchase this cream?

Restless leg syndrome is a symptom of something. Need to figure out the cause to treat it adequately. For some reason doctors never want to do that second part.

I believe that it can also fall under Fibromyalgia. You might check in that direction. There is a site on Mayo which discusses Autoimune Diseases.
