IBS sufferers – MRT and LEAP
Hey IBS sufferers, have any of you had the MRT testing? It is testing to determine food sensitivities? The LEAP program is Lifestyle Eating and Performance Therapy. Has anyone done this? What were the results? Were they helpful? Has your IBS subsided? Any and all information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone, thanks for your input regarding the MRT food sensitivity testing and LEAP dietary management program. My test results are back and my dietitian is helping me with my meal plans. The test results created a WOW moment in my universe. For me, one of the most reactive items is soy and soy is in so much stuff. There is lots of label reading going on in my home and that is ok. This week is a very strict eating regimen and again, that is ok. As much as I have suffered, I am willing to put in the time and effort into calming my gut. Next week I will begin adding foods including herbs and spices back into my diet at the rate of 1 new item a day. So far all is great. I have NOT HAD ONE EPISODE OF DIARRHEA. Not one in the last 6 days. For the first time in years I am hopeful that I can successfully manage my IBS. Color me hopeful.

I have suffered IBS with Diarrhea for YEARS. My journey has taken me through all sorts of western medicine as well as some eastern medicine without significant and consistent relief. The cycle was vicious, I was at wits end and the weight kept piling on. I went through periods of time where I was desperately afraid to leave my home. Finally, I decided to see a psychologist about this because I couldn't make any meaningful or long term progress. It must be in my head right? Thankfully the psychologist pointed me in the direction of a dietitian who did MRT blood testing and now I am following the LEAP nutrition program. This has been a life saver. The testing determined food sensitivities and the LEAP program and my dietitian have helped me put together an eating program that works for me. Bit by bit we are adding foods back in. The MRT testing showed significant sensitivity to cow's milk (products), soy, yeast, tomatoes, acetaminophen and amaranth. Soy and yeast are hidden in so many things. Anyhow, it has been a lot of hard work so far but I have had exactly 1 episode of diarrhea in the last 21 days. Quite honestly the episode was my fault as one day I went off the rails and ate a bunch of stuff that I shouldn't. Anyhow, it gets easier every day and I have also begun to lose weight -- 8 pounds so far. I posted about this before I started and just wanted to let people know that I have found huge relief.

I would be interested! I have a dx of SIBO, but what you got is what so many of us need! Someone to work with us. and then yes, things can get better! I was just talking with someone on another thread how so many of us get the "learn to live with it", when it is often possible to get relief... but it's not simple, it's a process that requires, time; communication and practitioner and patient working together. GI docs are not interested in that.
And finding a dietician who is educated and interested in these problems is not much easier. I have not found one.

Thank you for sharing & I am delighted that the diet is working for you. I went through what you went through & totally agree with you about food sensitivity & Ibs. I have to stay away from gluten lactose sucrose & as you say it is in everything we buy often disguised by other names. If I only eat fresh produce & cook everything myself I am fine. Ate a salad already prepared with kinoa last week & had a terrible Ibs attack because it had soya in it.
Commercially prepared food is what makes us sick
It is hard work to prepare everything we est but it is worth it. It also took me 2 years to id everything I react to keeping a diary of everything I ate & I am also re-introducing food back gradually as per Mayo ´s recommendation & it works. Good luck to you🍀you are on the right track!
