Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in late stage Sjogrens Syndrome

Left ventricular hypertrophy or LVH occurs when the heart’s left pumping chamber has thickened and may not be pumping efficiently. LVH can develop in response to some factors — such as high blood pressure or a heart condition — that causes the left ventricle to work harder. With pressure overload inside the heart, heart muscle tissue may get thicker along the inner walls of the heart. This thickened wall can cause the left chamber to weaken, stiffen and lose elasticity, which may prevent healthy blood flow.
