Fibromyalgia Medication and treatment
I have been on the Mayo Connect for over six months. My symptoms point to the umbrella of things, Lyme disease, West Nile, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, and Chronice Fatigue. I have seen every doctor in my hospital system. Had every test and scans done. JUST MADE MORE $$ FOR THE HOSPITAL SYSTEM!
Yesterday I finally went to a Rheumatologist for a consultation on a blood test. When I expalined what I had been going through the last ten months he finally gave me a diagnoses. (First one after 10 months and 10 doctors.)There is a small chance I may have Lyme Disease, but to late to tell. He said he was sure it is Fibromyalgia. He said I should have been directed to him when it first started. (Again as many of you agree they put you through unecessay test and perscribe pills to make $$ for the industry.
So now that I finally have some direction to move, I need some advice, information, what helps, what causes it and such. He said he feels mine is in the area of sleep. Does this make sense to anyone? He is sending me to a sleep clinic for evaluation.
I know I have seen many postings about Fibromyalgia, but I guess it is the "Fibro Fog" that dosen't remember all.
I had been on Gabretentian but the side effects were worse than my pain! We are tryng Cymbalta. Can anyone let me know how it has worked for them. Anything to watch for?
As always this site is the Best! People are so honest and open about helping.
Thanks,
Sundance 🙂

@sandytoes14 Sending calming breaths in your direction. When tragedy hits close to home [physically or emotionally] we are never prepared for the aftermath in our systems, especially when we are already compromised. Please be gentle on yourself.

@sundance6 Fibro seems to be a "constellation" disorder, and manifests itself in different ways to different people. So relief solutions seem to work differently for people. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia back in 2006 or so, I think. I have other autoimmune conditions, and it took a bit for them to separate the issues. Fibro affects my sleep, and energy, those are connected. I also have extreme muscle discomfort sometimes, and do notice the "brain fog" at times. I use CBD tincture, which really seems to alleviate my discomfort. Beyond that, being gentle on myself, forgiving myself if it's needed to cancel plans. Those who are my friends understand. I keep up with healthy eating, and supplementing with vitamins and minerals. Activities like walking, stretching, Tai Chi.

Thanks Ginger! Sounds like our symptoms are very similiar. The last blood test showed up in an autoimune condition that they are researching now. Interesting you bring up the streching and Tai Chi. That is what the Rheumotoligist reconmended Friday. He said Tai Chi or Yoga. Can anyone chirp in if they have tried both and which works for them. We're all different! Being a senior, my YMCA has the Silver Sneakers program that I am going to look into this week. Funny thing is I don't want to embarass myself in front of others! Does that give you a clue of deep issues I have! LOL!
@sandytoes Hi that was a horrific shooting It always affects a person when close to them I'm so sorry for the loss of everyone involved .Be kind to yourself and find someway to let it go.Hold your family closer. Last week fibromyalgia @arthritis gained up on me finally got into the sunshine felt better I took everything under the sun but no relieve but getting into it sure helped .Dr gave me Prednisone it has helped , but don't take it only when I'm that much pain.Enjoy your dogs they are healing as cats are too.Enjoy your vacation.
@sundance6 After you hurt so bad you will let vanity disappear I've had fibromyalgia since the 90,s no cause of cure has been found. .My vanity left me years ago I retired in 2005 so all the years of working with it. I have the silversneakers it is a great way to keep going I go to a gym.that has a pool which I find helpful plus use different pain tools that I have .It is a challenge but since we don't work full time this keeps us busy taking care of ourselves .
I agree on the Vanity! I need to put my Big Boy pants on and go do it! I still work full time running myy own company, so staying busy is not my problem. It's finding the energy to get it all done.
Amazing a disease such as Fibromyalgia that is suffered by so many people that don't know how to cure it.
I've read some articles That say it doesn't exist! It's in our minds.
How Foolish!
Sundance, aka RB
@sundance6 How foolish indeed So this is what they say still wow .When I was first diagnosed I went to a group class there they said isometric exercise is helpful I found them it was I still do them when not in a flare ,nothing helps then.Rheumatologist especially understand fibromyalgia but most Dr, don't .This like so many other auto immune problems we have to do our own research and find what helps us ,yes put your big boy pants on lol
Jen @sandytoes14 Sending some cyber fair winds and calm seas your way and hoping all goes well with the training of the new family member. Also hoping your vacation is restful as well as fun!
@lioness I dread taking Prednisone. The side effects are sometimes worse than the symptoms. Because I had RNY gastric bypass the absorption is so different on all my meds.
John, thanks my friend!
