Problems After Hysterectomy: Abdominal Pain & Cramps

Posted by cherelle @cherelle, May 27, 2019

I had a total abdominal hysterectomy 3 years ago but now for the past year I have been having bad abdominal pain and cramps I have gone to a gastrointestinal Dr and to my ob and both have said they don't see anything but my gastrointestinal Dr gave me some glycopyrrolate 1mg twice a day before it was every few months now it's more often like after intercourse sometimes I feel so bad the cramps is bad please tell me what could be going on.

I looked up glycopyrrolate on WebMD and a side effect is cramps.
I had a total robotic hysterectomy for endometriosis and still kept having crampy pain but no one could find anything. Then last summer started having unnatural bleeding, but still no one could find anything. Finally my GP found it and said it was possibly an endometriosis breakthrough. She had my ob/gyn
cauterize it

@cherelle There is a natural hormone reduction when a hysterectomy is performed. If you are or are not on hormones, you might want to have the hormone levels checked. Certainly keep after the doctor until your concerns are answered in a manner that you are satisfied with. Get a second opinion if need be. We shouldn't have to suffer needlessly.

I had a total hysterectomy April 24 2019. Lap and vaginal. after 3 weeks I started having leg, knee, hip, arm, shoulder and even hand pain. It is every day. Has anyone had this and found any relief? frustrating when my MD does not care about much except my incisions.... I have never had any pain like this prior. Any advice would be most appreciated.

@tinakoprek - wanted to let you know I moved your post here so you could connect with others in this existing discussion on problems after hysterectomy. Having leg, knee, hip, arm, shoulder and even hand pain every day sounds very challenging.

Has the surgeon addressed this at all and whether it could be connected to the surgery?

Did you have abdominal or laparoscopic hysterectomy? Do you have any other known problems that could be contributing? I am Celiac, and one of the symptoms is joint pain. Also hysterectomy, especially abdominal do cut supportive ligaments that could affect your hip, leg, and knee.
I also had a total hysterectomy for endometriosis, and although I am dealing with adhesions and leftover endo, I am noticing hip pain. I do not know if it is from adhesions, or the lack of ligament support caused by the surgery, or something different. I too have noticed that doctors don't seem to care much. I have gone through 3 ob/gyns because they don't seem to care. And the 3rd one is supposed to be an endo. specialist, but still doesn't seem too concerned.
My general dr. found an endo. breakthrough and made the ob/gyn treat it.

I had lap and vaginal, my uterus was too large to take through lap, I went to my GP she ran lots of blood work, says it has to be related to surgical positioning, I’m just hoping it doesn’t last forever! It’s very depressing, I felt better when I bled everyday! How is that possible? Have you found anything to help?

She says that she doesn’t know why I’m having these issues, maybe surgical positioning, I felt better bleeding every day, it’s frustrating before this I did boot camp 5 days a week, I have never experienced anything like this, not sure what to do, my GP ran several blood tests to
See if anything showed but nothing so far, it’s just weird, I feel like I’ve been beat up,
