Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@imallers that recipie sounds good . I only ate them when I roasted chicken or turkey and loved the calfs liver as it was more tender with onions and bacon also . So good but not for cholesterol so I seldom have ate it and its been awhile. My cholesterol now is under control so may buy some soon to eat . I can just see Leonard gagging
@imallers That's good I started a bone meal powder from Amazon but found out my lips where swelling so stopped it and just take 2 600mg calcium tabs, also my D3 5000 and K I would like to do a liquid if I can find one .
@lioness Hmm, I guess chicken livers are out for me then, I have recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol. I have been prescribed pravastatin which I will pick up at the pharmacy today. There are many of the statins that are not compatible with immunosuppressants and the doctor who prescribed this seemed to know all about that. I did of course check with my transplant team also.
What do you take? Have you had any side-effects from taking a statin?

You can order at shop.com the Isotonix powder d3 plus K2. Only from Nutrametrix. My daughter who is a nurse practitioner has spoken with the young women who started this brand. The bottle is $33.50. Some are one month, some are two month supply. I currently take their daily essentials and a joint and inflammatory mix. She’s ordered the d3k2 and also a bone health bottle for me. She truly believes in this.
Just a capful of this powder in 2 oz of water once or twice a day preferably on an empty stomach. Each type of powder requires just one or two capfuls . The d3 is 5000units. My daily essentials need an 8 oz glass of water and wait 10 minutes before eating.
I’ll be discontinuing the essentials because, cost wise, 3 bottles will be enough.
There are other liquids or drops online but I would visit a nutrition center or vitamin shop before I buy anything like this online. Do not order anything similar on Amazon.
My daughter does a lot of research. Our whole family and all the grandkids are on something from Nutrametrix. My son in law has no more knee pain. Takes several weeks to feel results. Some of this stuff makes you very regular . We’re feeling a general well being , alertness and sustainable energy.
I’m sure there are very similar and reliable products that are just as effective.

@gingerw Sounds like making a meal plan requires some creativity! I know how that is from being vegan for 3+ years. What are some of your favorite meals that you *can* eat?
@contentandwell 😀 I was doing something for work while eating, and I felt a surge of brain functionality where it was a bit dull up there prior... lol
@ayeshasharma Hi my cyber friend! I eat a lot of chicken/poultry [one day may wake up clucking]. Veggies that meet the approved lists. Apples are my go-to fruit. Fortunately I like iceberg lettuce. Cannot have dairy except for maximum 4 oz per day, so go-to there is almond milk. Breakfast is usually some form of oatmeal topped with berries or chunky home-made applesauce. Favorite dinner is chopped lettuce with onions, celery, bell peppers, pineapple tidbits, with heated chopped chicken or ground turkey mixed in.

Well we know that omega 3 increases blood flow to the brain but I don’t know how fast. Carbohydrates give you instant energy if you had eaten any at that time. Sweets increase your dopamine levels. Or maybe you were just so hungry and getting tired because you needed food. We all get slump periods during the day. That’s why I like to graze. Who knows? Enjoy the positive uptick and let your brain shine and be smart.

@ayeshasharma I will have to have an avocado the next time I am feeling unfunctional! Of course with my recent luck I will probably cut it and discover it has all of those brown spots or lines inside. I did have a perfect one last night.

You do have a challenge when it comes to food. But if you like what you can eat or love certain things then you’ve got a handle on it.
I love pineapple in anything...love to roast it along with chicken sausage and vegetables. Love pineapple and banana together.
Have a grandson who loves the pineapple motif....pineapple golf pants, pineapples on his shirts....pineapple night light but he won’t eat them lol.

I like to think I really know how to pick out an avacado but have gotten stuck too many times. I do know what stores seems to have the best ones but still....Publix is great about returning bad avacados if you get there the next day but I usually try to pick around the bad spots. I generally don’t like to refrigerate a half of one but occasionally a good one will survive until the next day.
It’s still a crap shoot.
