Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Posted by Debbra Williams, Alumna Mentor @debbraw, Feb 22, 2019

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Hi,
Wow, I thought that was so bizarre until I goggled it. Most sites suggested that drinking tea or any beverages when too hot will expand the blood vessels causing a nosebleed. Some other people suggested that green tea has a property that could interfere with clotting. So I guess that is something you should avoid unless you want to try cooling it down with an ice cube (that’s what I do ) before drinking. I drink decaffinated green tea every day but I am not prone to nosebleeds. Waiting until my son in law gets another one so I can run to the rescue with q tips and apple cider vinegar.

@imallers I even drink mine semi cool and when everyday drinking it I got a nosebleed So staying away from it as I'm prone to them . I did use the apple cider and q tip after I stopped the bleeding with Kleenex I also take a baby aspirin ever since I had my by pass so between the 2 that's what happens . I only now take the aspirin every other day .

They can never be too ripe unless they're black Just cut out any black spots. The riper the better actually. And you can also freeze them and use them later for banana bread. There's a trick to the frozen bananas though.

That’s what I do and I add baby kale, frozen pineapple , carrot juice and 1 tsp of Japanese matcha powder. My smoothie before the gym or anytime I am going to have a long active day otherwise it’s not a daily thing for me. I’m either going to make banana bread with those spotty things or freeze them. I’m adding some leftover pumpkin purée today just because it’s leftover from my paleo pumpkin banana muffins.

Now I’m hungry...again

Good idea as they are so good for you. . I could eat avacados every day....only Hass....stuff them with salmon or tuna salad, have them on the side with eggs...smashed avacado on toast with or without honey drizzled over them...avacado on hamburgers.....or just straight with s and p. Frenchies here in Florida has a stuffed crab acacado with amazing light dressing....it’s an appetizer that I order as an entree.....I won’t share it if ordered as an appetizer. That’s how much I love avacados.

@imallears kind of a strange but not so strange combination: avocado and soy sauce. Just split into two halves and drizzle a little soy on top. I eat it right in the skin with a spoon.

@ayeshasharma Ayesha, that sounds really good. Too bad I cannot have avocado or soy sauce.
