Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More
Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.
Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.
Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!
I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

@imallers I,ll bet he did too LOL Never tried mussels that's not shellfish is it Mary
@jakedduck1 Warm compresses switched off with cold packs. Meditation focusing on dispelling the pain, asking it to go away as you don't need it any longer.

@jakedduck1 I'm sorry your in pain. If you took those meds all at once or a couple of hours within each other you,d be under the table. For low back pain I use a lot of different muscle rubs and essential oils. I also like Icy Hot it works wonders . I lay down listen to relaxing music or meditation as @gingerw suggested
@lioness
Hi,
Yes mussels are shellfish....crustaceans and mollusks(like clams) are both types of shellfish so you can’t have either if you are allergic. I think octopus and squid are considered shellfish but not sure about that. I’d Goggle any type of caned fish (there are canned mussels and oysters) if you were to go shopping and were thinking of buying a can. Smoked oysters are good canned but you can’t have them.
Mary
@imallers I thought they where . No I cant eat any shellfish now so I eat Alaskan salmon ,no farm salmon, cod ,halibut use to love perch but cant find it out here . Sea bass . We went deep sea fishing of the Fla. coast and had this so good.
@imallers All that food is what I use to have in Pa. I just had Dried beef on toast another one we liked . Welsh rabbit will have when I get my groceries out of cheese use to eat it with tomatoes but now since I'm omitting them will have with onions. Also sauerkraut on mashed potatoes. yummy
@lioness
Sauerkraut on tater should good. I like it on my salad on the rare occasion I get in a chopping mood. Malt would be good on both.

@merpreb
I told the pain where to go alright but not as politely as you suggest but it didn’t mind.
@lioness
I was taking Percocet every hour for 6 hours. Not smart. I have some Fentanyl but don’t want to start that again. Tomorrow will be better.
Jake
@imallears- Jake- I defrosted shrimp in water with some ice in the refrig. But I only buy them fresh now. Also do not buy shrimp from Asian countries. There water is filthy. Shrimp should be cooked very quickly. Maybe 4 minutes to 5 on each side. You can marinate them for about 5-7 minutes in a vinaigrette, pat them dry and put them on heat with a bit of EVOO. Jake, have you tried them?
@jakedduck1- You seem to have a very limited range of food that you eat. How's your weight?
