Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Good morning all- I love good bread. When I was younger I almost ate my way through a whole loaf of rye bread, fresh from a Jewish deli. Of course I couldn't do that now- I'd want Fresh French Banquettes to even try.
What's in our breads?

I eat a flax pita bread with lunch- few calories and lots of benefits. I also pile on homemade sprouts, lettuce and a protein.
What are other healthy things to put on good bread

@merpreb Good question! On bread, I love tuna with some dill relish, a bit of mayo and lettuce. I've also used some leftover cooked salmon with some spicy mustard, green peppers, etc.

@merpreb What's better than the smell of bread, baking in the oven? I used to make all of our bread when the kids were young. It was so good. I never used a bread machine, I did it all from scratch with a good mixer that had dough beaters. Yum. Oatmeal is my favorite.

@hopeful33250 Despite being a pretty good baker, my kids didn't know what cookies were until they were older! I have always had weight problems so I avoided sweets a lot when they were young. My son is now a fanatic about eating healthy, my daughter less so, but she is still a size 6 so not doing too badly.

@contentandwell, @hopeful33250- There is not much better than bread baking in the oven. When we were kids, to get to the beach, we had to drive by a bread baking company and we would all say, even if we were fighting in the back seat, "smell the bread!"

Jake- I'd like you to read this article of how you can eat stuff that you have not been but pairing them with other foods. https://www.webmd.com/kidney-stones/kidney-stones-food-causes#1

Okay, I did my homework and surprisingly I am conforming with my diet constraints. I was eating a little to much of the wrong things for awhile but the doctor fixed that on my last visit. With the exception of Asparagus, but I’m working on it. I wasn’t happy when he told me to cut down on all meat. Like telling a lion to eat watercress sandwiches. I really like Spinach, Almonds, cashews,
Baked potatoes, Beets, Okra, Sweet potatoes but I’ve virtually cut those out.
