Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

Well, I put my steak EXACTLY as said in the recipe book that came with it. Airfry position 2 for 18 mim at 400 degrees for medium, turn half way through. I followed directions to the tee. It’s a bloody mess.
Anyone notice air fryers need to cook longer.

Jake- Does the Airfry have an on-line site? You might want to check it out for similar problems.

@merpreb my mother always seared too, but this as at 500 for the whole time.

I presume you realize it was a beef tenderloin, not pork. It was an expensive treat, but it was Christmas!

NOT EAT STEAK! Sister you better duck low and be able to really run fast!!!!! So what should I eat that’s as simple as that?

Jake- Have you been to a nutritionist? It might save you a lot of trouble. Also I'm worried about you because you seem to be having a lot of problems with everyday little problems that you have probably handled before. Is there a senior center near you that you could spend time with during the day that will help with any problems that you might have?

@jakedduck1 The suggestion@merpreb has given you sounds good to me as well. We do what we can to support you here and help with the daily domestics, etc. Maybe being around some real people as in ones you can see and talk to may benefit you. There are many people out there in the real world that may be able to help you. We all need some contact with others and not just online.
You seem like a nice enough guy. Be proactive.

Guess I’ll invest in an indoor grill like you and @imallears suggested. Do you think they are more beneficial than the oven broiler?

@jakedduck1 I use a grill pan for steaks. They cook very well on it. I generally cut up mushrooms and/or shallots and put a little EVOO on the pan to cook them, then add the steaks. I do coat the steaks with a little EVOO too so they won't stick. If you put the oil on the pan it really does not stick well to the ridges.
If you do have one of these, the best way to clean it without scrubbing off the non-stick coating on the ridges, is to use a kitchen brush, gently. I know from experience that using one of the scrub pads made for teflon does take the coating off on the ridges.

@merpreb My son has been cooking Christmas dinner for us for a while, but this past year he wasn't getting here until mid-afternoon so I had to proceed without him. My daughter did the typical roasted Brussel sprouts, and I did the mushroom risotto and the roast. We have gone from filet mignons to rack of lamb a few times and the last two Christmases we did the tenderloin roast. All good. The risotto came out so yummy that my son is now trying to opt out of the prep. I don't think so...

Have you ever considered a cooking class? A local hospital in my area has cooking classes of various types (like using a hot pot, cooking fish dishes, etc.). Also, there are some adult ed classes that teach cooking skills. You will probably find some companionable instruction there.

It is also a fun way to meet other people, share skills and learn from others. Just a thought.

Will you look and see what types of cooking classes are offered in your community?

@hopeful33250 Just brush the oil on the steak, just a tiny bit will do. I use it for steak, burgers, swordfish or other fish steaks, and sometimes boneless chicken breasts.

This is the type of brush I have found works best. The bristles splay out in front so you are not hitting the edges of the pan with the hard side of the brush head.
