Recipes, Food Tips, Healthy Eating & More

Some of the members of the Gratitude Discussion Group were interested in having a place to share recipes and food ideas. I’m hoping that we can use this thread as a place to have that kind of discussion. I’d love to hear your ideas for quick meals, comfort food, healthy snacks, and more.

Personally, I’ve just been through a bad reaction to one of my medications that left me with a very queasy stomach. I would love to hear ideas – or recipes – that might be used when you need to get something on your stomach, but don’t want to overdo it.

Hopefully, this thread will even be a place where we can share recipes for special treats and yummy rewards. It doesn’t always have to be healthy!

I’d love to hear from members who have been part of other discussions AND from new members who have good ideas, recipes and food tips to share. I’m excited to see who might start us off here with an awesome food suggestion!

What a great idea @lioness. Social workers are often the unsung heroes in the medical profession.

@Parus. Ok, now I’m in unfamiliar territory. I’m being prompted to login every time I want to reply to a post and when I logged in to reply to someone’s post, I was put to a different person to reply to. Hope someone will read this and help! ......Karen

Hi @parus

I'm so glad that you posted about your CT results. It's a good thing that your medical needs are getting some attention now. I know that the process of getting your pain and physical problems diagnosed has been arduous and frustrating for you at times.

I hope this new group of doctors can appreciate your persistence in seeking answers and will provide you with the help you need.

I look forward to your updates as you follow up on these new diagnoses.

@hopeful33250 I have been trying hard to be positive and advocate even under the veil of fear of being once again kicked to the curb as a headcase. After all of this time someone finally had a few seconds to listen. I just hope I do not stroke out first. Transportation is becoming an issue due to head pain again. Is what it is.

Hey y'all, I have been having issues lately on my phone and laptop. I will lay the cause on the weather as others thoughts/causes are far too overwhelming.
Ought to be enthusiastic about Spring and flowers. Not looking good right now. See where things go from here.
No input on food in my comment. Veered off for a bit.
I am having my beloved oatmeal for breakfast. Only steel cut traditional. Later as just not into food right now.
Mayhap these high tech things ought to have a healthier diet.

Last night I fixed a "kitchen meatloaf", my favorite kind. Always 1-1.5 lbs ground turkey, celery, onions, oatmeal, pasta sauce [sometimes adding in salsa!], egg, spices, leftover veggies if there are any in the fridge. Mix well, bake at 350 for about an hour. Steamed up Mexican squash, added a side green salad, plus biscuits for husband. Yum good! Sent him off to work today with leftover squash and some meatloaf for lunch. @jakedduck1, even you could manage this!

Head pain is often associate with cervical problems, @parus. I suppose you've mentioned the head pain to your docs? If not, do so.

I hope you get some pain relief soon!! You might try some ice and/or heat on the back of your neck and see if that helps. Perhaps an OTC lidocaine patch? Those are my go-to remedies for that kind of pain. Might be worth a try? (If all else fails, rub a little Vicks on your neck - my standby).

@hopeful33250 It turns out different every time I make it. Never two meatloaves the same. I like that.

@gingerw That's the way I cook as well! Never know what it will taste like until it's done.
