I am sorry to hear that you are lacking in motivation right now. It certainly is understandable, though, given what you have experienced.
When you say there is no one to help you do you mean that there is no one to cook or buy groceries for you?
If that is the case it is probably time to call in the reserves. Call friends, family, your church, even neighbors who live nearby and tell them what you need and ask them to pick it up for you.
Most grocery stores in my area are also doing grocery shopping and pick-ups at their stores and also deliveries. For deliveries, there can be an added cost, but it might be worth it until you get back on your feet and feel a bit more motivated.
Will you post again and update me on your progress of taking care of yourself at this difficult time?
@karen00- I'm glad that you are home. I'm sorry that you are feeling so down. After a "stay" in a hospital there are many reasons that depression sets in. First off you are no longer a patient so attention is not being paid to you like you were use to. It takes a while to get use to that even with help. I don't think that the hospital would let you go if they weren't sure that you could take care of yourself.
I've never met a person who wasn't tired after being discharged from the hospital. It's a change or air and maybe diet or medicines. HAve any of your meds been changed upon discharge?
@karen00, I just got home from major surgery and a nine day stay in the hospital, and I totally understand how you feel. I am tired of the pain, tired of struggling to even get out of bed. I also have fibro, and I just want to sleep to escape. The doctor cut off my pain meds five days after surgery, and I feel sure my uncontrolled pain is part of the problem. Not able to take care of myself. Too exhausted to feed myself. My advice is just hang on and let time go by while your body heals. Sleep is healing. Rest.
@karen00 sorry your in so much pain call your Dr tell him to have social worker call from hospital you should let them help you till you can manage on your own
@karen00 You are sounding discouraged at this time. I am not negating how you are feeling. Just wondering if you are asking too much of yourself too quickly. You were surrounded by staff and patients while in the hospital. Could it be that you are missing having others around and your mind/body is trying to adapt. Do try to at least stay hydrated. Have you asked for some help? I know you mentioned a brother. Got to eat a little something and stay hydrated. Cheering for you!!
@karen00 I think @margieinia has some good suggestions. Try to do just a little so the thought of it won't be overwhelming. Once you do that you can increase your time out of bed in increments. As @merpreb said, the hospital would not have allowed you to home alone if they didn't think you were ready for it. If you really can't do it yet, can you possibly go to some type of extended care facility? Maybe a short time there would help. They would get you up and walking, a little at a time, and that could prepare you for doing the same when you are home alone.

Sometimes I feel like staying in bed all day! You have to force yourself out of bed even if it’s just 15 minutes a couple times a day. When you get up make some snacks that you can keep next to you. It’s hard and I can feel for you. I have onset Parkinsons and it can take a toll some days. Keep the faith!!
