GI Disorder and Internal Shaking
Hi all. I'm a 21 year old South Asian female and I have been having GI issues for about five years--mainly along the lines of constipation. I do have bowel movements every day but it takes a long time & I am rarely fully cleared out. These GI issues are always accompanied by other health issues (gas, pressure in head, etc). Recently, some scary new conditions have manifested: In the past few weeks, there have been times where my heart starts beating wildly and very fast. Sometimes, when I'm tired and constipated, my entire body feels like its vibrating internally; the shakes aren't visible but it feels like all my muscles are quivering. At this point, I feel a constant shaking/quivering within my body, especially in my heart cavity.
I have had TWO EKG's and both came back normal. All lab tests for diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, etc came back within normal limits. I am very concerned about this internal shaking. My dad says he found something about how GI disorders can impact muscoskeletal system and since the heart is a muscle, it's contracting and being affected. But I wanted to know if anyone here can help!!!!!!! If anyone knows anything at all please please please let me know!!!!!

@oakbourne I FOUND THIS POST INTERESTING BECAUSE I HAVE WONDERED IF MY GUT PROBLEMS EFFECTS MY 🧠. I HAVE MENTIONED IT TO MY SPECIALIST WHO DID NOT BELIEVE ME. I HAVE BAD HAEMORROIDS WHEN I HAVE BEEN SITTING VAND GET UP I FEEL DIZZY AND 🥴 HEADED GOES RIGHT THROUGH MY BODY. COULD IT BE POSSIBLE...??? TERESA
Teresa, the answer is YES. I not only had shakiness, fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, brain fog and other stuff. MC effected my nervous system, my brain, and my heart. The electrical part of the heart. I learned a lot from a great DR. FINE, researcher in the field of irritable bowels problems. He called me and I could barely think straight. My heart was bothering me and I had the full-throttle Cardiac scare. Had tests in the hospital overnight and my heart is fine. It stems from the Gut. I am a RN, but I really did not know what was wrong with me. I was wearing diapers and feeling sick. I wasted a lot of money on doctors who didn't have a clue. When it's your Gut, GI specialists are beyond bad. That's my two cents worth.
@quiteachiver76 HELLO THANK YOU FOR THE MESSAGE I FOUND IT VERY INTERESTING. PLEASE WHAT DID YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAID GI SPECIALISTS ARE BEYOND BAD... WHO DO YOU SEE WITH THE THINGS YOU HAVE MENTIONED WITH YOUR HEALTH. I HAVE GASTROPORIS SLOW MORTILITY AND SURGERY ON MY INTESTINES. I HAVE KNOCKED MY HEAD AGAINST A BRICK WALL TRYING TO FIND ANSWERS WHEN I ASK THEY DON'T KNOW. I HAVE TO WRITE IN BLOCK LETTERS TO SEE THE LETTERS AND WORDS CLEARLY. PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH. TERESA
Hi folks, this post is from a few months ago but I'm suffering from the same symptoms. I've been suffering daily from gas, a twisting feeling in the abdomen, head pressure, tension headache, fatigue, brain fog, internal shakiness, heart palpitations, chest tightness, shortness of breath. It feels like my body is falling apart but all lab reports came back normal after numerous tests.
I just started (a month ago) Primidone for internal vibrations/shakiness and IT WORKS! I’ve had 30 years of heart issues, body pain, nerve disease, seizures, gastro problems, bone/spine issues etc and 6 months ago, out of nowhere, started w internal vibrations. After asking my family “do you feel the house shaking?” and them looking at me like I was crazy....I found a neurologist who knew what I was talking about! I’m just grateful to not have these vibrations continue along with everything else I have. She seems to think I may have a nerve disease or fiber neuropathy. Going for testing next month. Hope you can at least try Primidone w some relief!! Good luck.
Hello,
Has anyone found anything or had any diagnosis from these symptoms?? If you have, please let me know. I’m 46 and desperate.. been having these same symptoms for over 9months now. And i would add a lump feeling in my throat. I’ve been 5 times at hospital er and 6 times at walk in clinics (i live in Quebec, Canada and dont have a family doctor, she retired and am on a waiting list that is very long for a family doctor) I’ve quit smoking in March thinking it would help. But it got worse. Cleaned my diet. Plus visits and treatments to Osteopath, acupuncture and chiropractic. After 6 months of trying to get better i’m still feeling awful and the pains are just getting worst. I’ve been told that it’s anxiety, my nervous system, hypochondria, migraines, IBS ...Not to mention the numerous test, head CT, abdomen, barium swallow, ENT, spine MRI, ultrasound of abdomen, thyroid, pulmonary embolism blood test, chest x ray, basic CBC blood test that always came back clear. The only thing i found out a couple weeks ago, is when i tracked my symptoms and the internal shaking seizures relieved by gas, (neurological disease??MS??)they happen a few days before my period and other symptoms shortness of breath, severe upper stomach pains like burning and twisting, throat tightness, jaw and left arm numbness, left side whole body pains, left sciatica (my knee becomes numb cant walk for long) happens between 8 to 11 days after first day of period, around ovulation. Only one doctor mentioned endometriosis??? Im seeing a gynecologist in a few days. They all say its not life threatening but its threatening my sanity and life as i cant continue feeling invalidated. Doctors think i make no sens cause of too many symptoms. I just want to find out what’s wrong with my body. Please help thank you!
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry you're going thru all of this and that those doctors have been so invalidating!!! I know that feeling of everything coming back normal.
I'm also experiencing the internal shaking that's relieved by gas/bowel movements and am wondering if it's MS/Young-Onset Parkinsons (I posted a similar query here which got some helpful responses: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/finger-twitching/). I haven't exactly experienced your other symptoms but similar--parasthesia in my arms when lying down, muscle twitching, feeling of something stuck in my throat. The internal shaking is the main thing. I'm curious about the stuck-in-throat feeling and the possibility that it might be linked since you're experiencing it too.
I'm seeing a neurologist in a month and getting an MRI tomorrow and will update you as soon as I can.
I'm NOT a doctor but I've read that Vitamin B-12 deficiency exhibits similar symptoms and was thinking of getting tested for that. Just tossing that idea out there. Hope you find some relief with the gynecologist
Many I have seen don't have a clue about my GI problems.
Regarding the internal shaking, mine responded to a dietary supplement from Metagenics called Intesol (antispasmodic GI support). Its main ingredients are chamomile flower extract, peppermint leaf oil, lavender flower oil, and sodium copper chlorophyllin. I am on a regimen being treated with several nutritional supplements in a specified order for hPylori, leaky gut, and yeast, parasites, and bacteria. I was a mess and have made steady progress toward regaining health, weight, and am starting to add a little muscle. I really believe my internal shaking was from the spasms caused by the excess air. I was so full of air caused by the conditions mentioned above. I found GI specialists did not really understand the severity or cause of symptoms. I found it hard to function in daily life. All of this causes or adds to anxiety which only makes all GI symptoms worse. Mine all started with massive antibiotics for about three conditions in a row 2-3 years ago.
Something else I just thought of. The stuck in throat thing I felt when I was full of air. It helped to drink water and force the air down. Also when I took my daily allotment of Gas-X, I found activated charcoal tablets (found over the counter in drug stores or Walmart) to help get rid of gas. But the supplements are helping to get rid of the gas producers.
Hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, runs in my family. It is not the kind associated with diabetes, but is called Reactive Hypoglycemia. It could be considered a food allergy. Certain foods cause the blood sugar to plummet suddenly, leaving you feeling shaky and trembly inside. Eating sugary foods makes it worse (this is why it is not associated with diabetes). My mother and an aunt have it and I have it to a degree. We've learned to eat a combination of carb. and protein (like cheese and crackers) when a spell is occuring. My mother has fainted several times because it got too low, too fast and wasn't able to get to her cheese and crackers. However her blood sugar is always normal, but probably because it is checked when she isn't having a spell.
If she gets too hungry (like fasting for a drs checkup) she has problems, but also certain foods seem to trigger it--often fruits.
Since being Celiac 2 years ago, and now gluten free, I haven't had problems. I wonder if it was related?
