GI Disorder and Internal Shaking

Posted by gigiraj @gigiraj, Feb 15, 2019

Hi all. I'm a 21 year old South Asian female and I have been having GI issues for about five years--mainly along the lines of constipation. I do have bowel movements every day but it takes a long time & I am rarely fully cleared out. These GI issues are always accompanied by other health issues (gas, pressure in head, etc). Recently, some scary new conditions have manifested: In the past few weeks, there have been times where my heart starts beating wildly and very fast. Sometimes, when I'm tired and constipated, my entire body feels like its vibrating internally; the shakes aren't visible but it feels like all my muscles are quivering. At this point, I feel a constant shaking/quivering within my body, especially in my heart cavity.

I have had TWO EKG's and both came back normal. All lab tests for diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, etc came back within normal limits. I am very concerned about this internal shaking. My dad says he found something about how GI disorders can impact muscoskeletal system and since the heart is a muscle, it's contracting and being affected. But I wanted to know if anyone here can help!!!!!!! If anyone knows anything at all please please please let me know!!!!!

There is something called Reactive Hypoglycemia, and it runs in my family. My mother and aunt have it the worst of anyone. Mom often says she feels trembly inside when it is coming on. I think it might be a type of food allergy because it happens often after eating. One time her blood sugar dropped so low so fast after eating lunch, that she fainted.
Also I have endometriosis, and while it does not cause trembling, it does cause serious abdominal pain and gas for me. Unfortunately it will not show up on ultrasounds unless it has formed cysts. Mine had formed cysts. Laparoscopic/robotic surgery is the only way to find it for sure. Have you tried an ob/gyn.? One of my symptoms (other than a ton of gas) before it was found, was severe headaches that felt like my left eye was being gouged out without anesthesia. Endometriosis is when the uterine lining leaks out and forms on other organs (mine was on both ovaries, intestines, and possibly bladder). Whenever the monthly cycle occurs, these implants will behave like a normal uterus and bleeds, but the bleeding has no where to go except within the abdomen, so it spreads.

I have had this problem more than 5 years but it has worsened within the last 2 years. I have noticed whenever I have carbs it is alot worse however if I have supplemented myself with iron and folic it is alot less and the gas is alot less. When the abdomen is filled with air i get the shaking palpitating and breathing issues. I lie in a reclined position and burp continuously for half hr then I dont wake up from the vibrations. If I stay away from carbs and take my iron (orofer) and vitamin c and b complex then I have the best week ever and I could have carbs also but not alot and definitely not the last meal. When it get really rough DICA is my rescue. Hope my experience helps. I think many of us have iron deficiencies or mal absorption of iron and just dont know.

Have you been checked for Celiac's Disease? Gluten can cause gas, nutritional deficiencies, pain and a host of odd symptoms. I complained of similar symptoms my whole life (my earliest memories at 4 include pain) and it never occurred to any of my doctors to check for Celiac. I figured it out on my own when I was 49.

I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 18 yrs old. At age.40 got breast cancer and everything after that was centered around cancer. I'm now 7 yrs cancer free at age 47 with double mastectomy and silicone reconstruction and total hysterectomy..brca1+ and triple negative.. now I'm being screen for an auto immune condition called sjrogen syndrome cause my salivary glands are malfunctioning. I will put celiac disease on the list for future tracking. Thank you and stay safe and covid 19 free.

I logged in just to follow this thread. I have been suffering for years with this and have spent countless hours trying to find answers. I have been to many doctors and the only help I recieved was to be given prescriptions for antidepressants. I am not depressed, I am shaking. I believe it has something to do with gas in my body. Some days it is barely noticeable and others are so bad I can hardly stand it. The shaking seems to be mostly on my left side. Oddly enough, it stopped completely on two separate occasions for about a month each time, so I have hope there is some way to fix this.

Regarding the internal shaking, mine responded to a dietary supplement from Metagenics called Intesol (antispasmodic GI support). Its main ingredients are chamomile flower extract, peppermint leaf oil, lavender flower oil, and sodium copper chlorophyllin. I am on a regimen being treated with several nutritional supplements in a specified order for hPylori, leaky gut, and yeast, parasites, and bacteria. I was a mess and have made steady progress toward regaining health, weight, and am starting to add a little muscle. I really believe my internal shaking was from the spasms caused by the excess air. I was so full of air caused by the conditions mentioned above. I found GI specialists did not really understand the severity or cause of symptoms. I found it hard to function in daily life. All of this causes or adds to anxiety which only makes all GI symptoms worse. Mine all started with massive antibiotics for about three conditions in a row 2-3 years ago.

Something else I just thought of. The stuck in throat thing I felt when I was full of air. It helped to drink water and force the air down. Also when I took my daily allotment of Gas-X, I found activated charcoal tablets (found over the counter in drug stores or Walmart) to help get rid of gas. But the supplements are helping to get rid of the gas producers.

Can I ask how you found that you had these issues? Did you see a naturopath...just looking for some direction. I will definitely be looking into the Intesol. Thanks so much for the help.

I went to a chiropractor that used muscle testing (also known as applied kinesiology). I think naturopathic doctors also use muscle testing, but I haven't gone to one myself. The very first time this was used on me was probably 20+ years ago. I hadn't gotten any help from medical doctors and was referred by someone that was helped. It's weird at first but I've come to believe in the process.

I have been to a naturopath who did this type of testing, and the process led to no result for me. However, your suggestion of activated charcoal was very good, and I finally had a sound sleep last night. I believe the gas connection is the direction I need to follow. Now to find out the source. Thank you Nancy. 🙂

Oh that’s good to hear. We need to help each other. Digestive issues seem to be misunderstood by most of those that haven’t lived with them, including GI specialists. I was just visiting with two acquaintances today with long term issues and it was good to talk to someone that understands. We talked about a need for a support group. I hope you can get to the root cause.
