Posted by joannerhodes @joannerhodes, Feb 1, 2019

4 days after my 2nd Shingrix vaccination, I suddenly developed intense peripheral neuropathy in both feet...for the first time in my life...anyone else?

Did someone on here say something about their PN being aggravated by Vitamin B6??

@dont, Vitamin B6 toxicity is a known issue for causing PN. There are a couple of discussions you might find helpful.

- B-6 vitamin danger!: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/b-6-vitamin-danger/
- Body making too much Vitamin B6: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/body-making-too-much-vitamin-b6/
- Hashimoto's and B6 toxicity: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/hashimoto/

More info - B6 section it explains -- too much or too little gives neuropathy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4199287/

7-8 to Gone! Should be the title of a movie, starring the Curly Haired Cuties. Am going to the fridge to get a beer to celebrate the good news. 🍺 Cheers!

@jesfactsmon Hi Hank, Was the beer good? I love a good glass of beer, but I am particular about what I choose. Much more of a wine drinker. Yes, Kratom takes my pain away for about 3 to 4 hours. So cheers! Lori

@lorirenee1 Did you have Chicken Pox as a child? If you did, do you know anyone who had shingles in later life? It is not good.
Remember that the Flu in 1918 killed 675,000 in the United States..About 12,000 - 56,000 people have died in the US each year since 2010.
Did your parents see to it that you had the polio vaccination? Not knowing your age but to have lived through the summers in the 1950s the threat of Polio was really lifestyle changing.
Have you ever reported your medication symptoms to your prescribing Doctor? Get credible information from reliable sources. Mayo Clinic Doctors and publications are credible. Facebook medical information is not reliable. Don't bet your life on it..
I am 83, and have seen too much needless sickness because of a hunch or what "someone said." Good Luck.

@ken82 Yes, Ken, I had an outrageous case of chicken pox at 21 years old. I was student teaching and my 4th graders all went down with the pox. I was the last to go, with a raging fever, pox everywhere. Terrible time of it. I am 68 years old, have had all my vaccinations, but somehow, I just have had such weird experiences with meds that I tend to leave well enough alone. I might be nuts, but so be it. Just scared to death of most current vaccinations, and I have heard horror stories especially of the shingles vaccination causing neuropathy. So I will take a pass. I know this may be wrong, but I just don't want to have a vaccination. Covid vaccination I must take, if ever available. Thanks for writing, Lori Renee

@lois6524, the bug that causes shingles is chickenpox, not smallpox (thank goodness).
@oannerhodes, I don't believe PN is a known adverse reaction to shingles vaccine, and if it is, it is extremely rare. I am aware of at least one lawsuit that claimed it was, there may be others.

Hi Jeff, are you saying that you are aware of at least one lawsuit against Shingrix? or the previous Zostavax?? Don

Thank you so much Sunnyflower.

Be advised that my burning sensation did not start until about a month after the 2nd injection. I am unaware of any class action lawsuits. I’m in the early stage of investing all of this. I want to wait until I speak to the neurologist about it first. Don

Hi Don, understood. I hope and pray the two are not related b/c shingles is excruciating! Warm regards, Sunnyflower

Hi Lori Renee! It is my understanding that the influenza and Shingles Shingrix vaccines are both dead aka inactivated viruses, That is why I was able to get both on the same day. No consequences thankfully! Hope you are better than tolerable, Sunnyflower @ken82, @dont, @jeffrapp, @lois6524, @bustrbrwn22

I have had the first shingles vaccine with no sign of a problem. I need to get the 2nd one done. If it protects me from shingles, I'm all for it. But to have adverse reactions to the shot makes me want to give it more thought. I have had sfpn long before shingles shots. Are there studies that have looked at the risks and the possible connection to pn?

Jim

Hi Jim, I don't know the answer to your question however I do know that both this year's influenza and the Shingles Shingrix vaccines are inactivate aka dead viruses which is why I was able to get both on the same day without any consequences. Shingles is an excruciating virus that one doesn't want to experience. I haven't ever heard of a relationship to neuropathy so I don't know. Hope all is well with you and warmest regards, Sunnyflower @magnum52, @ken82, @jesfactsmon
