Cancerous spot not healing??
While at Mayo being examined for my rashes, a cancerous nickel size spot was removed on my back. It was basil cell, and said to be superficial. Four weeks later, it was nasty looking, with a thick black scab, and red border that spread out. I went to a local dermatologist, and they removed the scab, dr said it looked angry, and I applied ointment and covered it for 14 days. It seemed to heal ok, but its still red, and it hurts radiating out, and itches a bit. Four months later, it's still bugging me. I went back to local dermatologist, dr said just apply scar ointment. No further biopsy was done. She said she didn't have an answer as to why it hurts all around, but only that the scar tissue can be uncomfortable. Has anyone ever experienced after effects like this, for so long?? Before it was removed, I never even knew it was there.

Hello @dazlin! I wonder if some kind of acupuncture or skin stretching type therapy would be of help to assist with the painful area? Maybe that would be something good to bring up to your physician? Just a thought. 🙂

1 ReactionI had same issue on my lower leg. Dermatologist took a deep cut for basal cell. That was early August. It is still very dark and tender now Oct. 31! I was not happy he did not put stitches in it then.
@lk3xs, have you returned to the dermatologist to share your concerns?
@dazlin how is your spot now? What helped the spot heal (hopefully)?
No I have had total knee replacement on same leg. Delayed everything
Have had tons of skin cancers-- Basal, Squamous, and even the big M. (Melanoma)
Two on my leg, right immediately next to each other, were removed by Moh's surgery several years ago, they still hurt.
Derm said not to worry!

1 ReactionHi @mermaid7272 . Has your dermatologist looked at the sites that bother you? Are they sore like painful, or itchy? Is the skin dry around the sores? Maybe take a close up picture of the sites and then keep notes of any redness or any changes in the sites. Do this for about 2 weeks and then report any changes to the doctor. Maybe they will get better!

1 ReactionI am now recovering from Moh's surgery several weeks ago on my nose for Basal Cell Cancer. It was a a sore that would not heal. The surgery was quite large and deep, and I will probably have to have a skin graft or plastic surgery of some sort on it as it is VERY disfiguring. I feel totally discouraged and maimed.
This is the 3rd Moh's on my face. I had another on my leg and major surgery for a huge Melanoma on my arm many years ago.
I also have had several sarcomas and other serious cancers. Obviously there is a bad cancer gene in my DNA!

1 ReactionI am sorry that you feel disfigured but at least you are alive. I understand how frustrating it can be. My chondrosarcoma has made my back and shoulders look like a carved pumpkin. Most of my right breast is gone. The thing is that if you stay positive and thankful, your true beauty shines through. That is what people will see. Plus you can choose the nose you want to have😊
I am 100% positive that your family and friends are glad you are still with them. As I always say, find the blessing in each day. God has you here for a reason and it isn’t just to go through cancer. God bless you and let your beautiful smile shine through.
