At a Loss – Severe Abdominal Pain and No Answers

Posted by hgarm @hgarm, Jan 21, 2019

It has been a very rough month. I started having severe pain in my upper abdomen a week before Christmas. 2 days before Christmas I had my appendix removed and then 3 weeks later my gallbladder removed (they believed this to be the cause of all of my pain) ever since I have been having severe stomach pains that ate worse then the pains I started with. I have lost almost 22 pounds in a month due to the inability to eat and I feel as though I am wasting away. I am feeling so hopeless and so depressed and I just don't know what to do anymore because doctor's seem to be at a loss while my pain just keeps growing. I have never felt this down before and I don't know what to do about it

@hgram If your vomiting and diarrhea go to Urgent care

They can't do anything they don't do IV fluids in the urgent care only the ER and I can't afford that right now. My doctor wants me to take a stool sample in to be tested

The point here is for you to get medical care. I know it sounds like you can't afford it, but to use an old saying, "Your money or your life." You have been sick for a long time; you've lost 22 pounds in the last month, and now you've progressed to vomiting and diarrhea. You need to go to the ER, in my opinion.

I don't get that smell it's mostly like yellow diahrea the yellow liquid seems to stick to the toilet bowl? It's weird but it seems like it's slimy?

Tell your doctor about how you are feeling emotionally. It's important to take care of both your body and your mind. Your doctor will be able to help with resources for your emotional well-being. Good luck and I wish you the best!

@kanaazpereira Thanks for the kind words! I live in Rochester, Minnesota and just attended the Mood Program for depression at Mayo Clinic. I was looking at Google trying to find some online resources about depression specifically at Mayo and came across Connect. I was really surprised and encouraged to see how busy it is (although that might mean that people are feeling ill in one way or another, which isn't good news, but there is a lot of help which is the part I'm encouraged by.) As I recover from a depressive episode I find that I want to help others get through theirs. Thank you for reaching out!
