At a Loss – Severe Abdominal Pain and No Answers

Posted by hgarm @hgarm, Jan 21, 2019

It has been a very rough month. I started having severe pain in my upper abdomen a week before Christmas. 2 days before Christmas I had my appendix removed and then 3 weeks later my gallbladder removed (they believed this to be the cause of all of my pain) ever since I have been having severe stomach pains that ate worse then the pains I started with. I have lost almost 22 pounds in a month due to the inability to eat and I feel as though I am wasting away. I am feeling so hopeless and so depressed and I just don't know what to do anymore because doctor's seem to be at a loss while my pain just keeps growing. I have never felt this down before and I don't know what to do about it

Key is finding one. I am endeavoring to get a referral to an ortho doctor. wish me luck! If it is not the primary care doc's idea seems I get nowhere. a pain specialist seems worthless at this point. He has no suggestions other than doing neck exercises. SCREAM!!!!!

So frustrating as I do not even have a history of substance abuse. This is only punishment for the honest people as the abusers get it still. All we can do is keep trying. I don't want lots of drugs. Taking an antidepressant is suggested. GEESH! The pain specialist knows all of this. Thankful for the one hydrcodone 5 a day if I get another refill on it.

I'm so sorry you have so many problems finding relief from your pain. I wish there was some way I could help you, but apparently giving you support here is the only way I can. Perhaps the x-rays will provide an answer as to why you're in so much pain, and the doctor will be able to prescribe a pain med for you. I know I can't take any NSAIDS for a couple of reasons, so the alternative is Tramadol, or Marijuana. I think I may be allergic to Marijuana now. I take as little as possible just to get by, and Tylenol. I'm going to check to see if I can get a new prescription for Tramadol. It is the best for my pain which is infrequent but occurs more often now than before. I'm hoping the best for you Parus. Keep painting and drawing.

@hgarm.
You can get Medicaid provided you don't make too much money. It's not about age. Medicare is age related. Check out Medicaid in your state.

In order to get a real look at your pancreas, you have to get a special ultrasound or MRI. Pancreatic problems are hard to see and the person doing the test must be experienced and trained for that. As @lioness asked, are you reasonably close to a Mayo Clinic? How are you today?

Things are getting worse I now have uncontrollable diahrea and vomiting I can't eat or keep anything down. I am not near a mayo clinic as I live in Wisconsin

@hgarm I agree with @lioness. If you vomiting and diarrhea are uncontrolled and getting worse, please go to your nearest emergency department right away.
