I am a very caring person. When I see something that really "hits the right cord" I want everyone to read it and see if they
feel the same as me. Day going ok just keep asking him to help me and mostly he does. God Bless Patti
It "enlightening " me, and just wanted everyone out there to really read this and see that we might have come up with an answer to
lots of troubles children's problems out there. Let pray and ask Him for help. He can do it. Patti
I guess have to confess that I had a normal life also. My mood swings, anxiety, depression you name I feel it and it leaves me overwhelmed most of the time.But..............I can try thinking positive and happy which from where I am standing right now, would be impossible. So here we are having one of those
normal (our normal) day. Take care Patti
Hi @pjss48 you may have noticed I added this discussion to the Depression & Anxiety group, as well as the Mental Health group, so that more Connect members would be see your post and join in on this discussion.
I wanted to tag fellow Connect members @mamacita@annedodrill44 and @johnhans as they have discussed these things in the past and may be able to offer support for you.
@pjss48 at this point, what are some ways you have tried to handle your nervousness and worry? Have you found anything that is successful? Or is this a recent development?
Just saw your post and it made me stop and think that "hey" I feel that way too. Can I join you in your discussions? Would love to have a chat with people have the sames feelings and what could they do to help themselves. Thanks Patti
@humpty- Welcome to Mayo Connect. I'm glad that you joined us today. Does your TBI cause the anxiety or is it new? How long ago was your damage?
I'd also like to invite @brit because both of you recently talked about a "normal life". I think that early shrinks did an injustice when they labeled what is "normal and abnormal". Each generation's "normal" is different than the one before. Normality is conforming to what is expected behavior. So, if you look back at "what's expected" each generation will have different standards. Today women are a huge part of our political system and are expected to vote. About the 1920's women were just beginning to make headway, but before that they weren't "expected" to vote. It wasn't normal.
The world has changed in just a few years and there is a lot of anger and pressure that we feel. Everything is expected to be done yesterday, pressure is put on us to accept certain things that have been imposed on us with new social restrictions. Killings are up and even our climate has changed- all in a short time frame- at least what we can witness, and prices are up.
And by looking at the huge amount of people who are experiencing tension, depression, anger, confusion on Connect indicates that al lot of people are trying to deal with some kind of upsetting challenge.
We are also grouped into generational groups- I believe that a good portion of us on here are about middle-age and older. But what is "normally" expected of people in there 40's isn't the same for people in their 70's.
What is normal for someone who is in a wheel chair is not the same standard as Tom Brady types.
It's a "normal" tendency to allow our minds to dwell on troublesome situation, to worry because we want to make them better. So instead of allowing ourselves to get into a dither we should come up we solutions for the troublesome situation- make lists of pros and cons, do everything you can, within your control to change it, if you can. If you can''t then you have to let got. But ask- what can be done? Can I do it?

I agree but back in the "old" days people never talked about depression or anxiety they kept it to themselves. Now we are a
different world............lets never stop talking about our inner feelings. It is an outlet for a lot of us and also it is helpful for the
younger people to understand. Some people have it some don't............but its so nice to know you have someone to confide
in and to come up with different idea's. Any help anyone can give to another is a beautiful thing. So far it hasn't
happend to me. My husband and I decided today we would both walk on the tread mill for at least 5 mins. and try
to do it 3 times aday. We are also talking about growning our own veggies. Will keep you posted.
