Multiple autoimmune diseases
I was wondering if there were others with multiple diagnosis. I have 8 autoimmune diseases and 6 other long term illnesses. I can't find anything on the internet for that many. Is that a wierd thing or just they don't study that kinda thing.

After reading these articles over and again (Multiple Autoimmune factors) it has come to my conclusion that stress from an early age and mostly in a constant state (for a very, very long time) is hugely important. I can go into much detail but it is still important to know that I am a layman and not a professional. It appears to be that there has been little investigation into this particular category. Most people afflicted with these autoimmune health issues are embarased to reveal same as it is so very intimate and revealng. And many other factors included, on and on. This is a very interesting and revealing part of the autoimmune factors that I have not thought they to be a part of. Good information for thought. Thank you for this. Peach
@kidsmomof9 - I’m sorry you have all these AI diseases. It’s overwhelming. Our genes definitely play a role. I have some experience with AI disease, but I think my kids got a worse deal. When you are young everything looks good, but slowly they show themselves. I believe there is an interaction with the environment.
Yep! We are high school sweethearts. Married when I was seventeen and 1st kid when I was 19! We were completely blindsided when our oldest kids was Dx with T1D at age 11. No one on either side had it. The only other autoimmune connection is my grandmother who had RA and, I just recently found out, an uncle with sarcoidosis. My maternal grandmother had pernicious anemia, as do I, but I am not sure if that is autoimmune...
Yep! 9 kids! Thank you for helping direct me to the multiple autoimmune disease area. I am very interested in hearing about other issues along the same lines! I am finding out that our life of business as usual is rather bizarre to most people. It can only help to hear from people in similar situations. Thank you!
Just to set the record straight: I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Hypotyroidism. So, at least three. And what about Pancytopenia? On and on with others, Diabetic, and seven more medical problems. Quite confusing. Trying to stay alive is three jobs in one. (Right now I am talking to the Shingles rash walking around on my skin}. Still trying to find a sympathetic doctor who cares seems to go nowhere. But taking care of the dog and cat is an enjoyment. Caring for them helps to take my mind off my problems. Living in another world.
Peach414144 Peach, I, also have RA, PA, and Hypotyroidism. But I also have RyR2, FKTN, and Gelsolin. And now I have Shingles. What are the chances these are all tied together, and that Shingles is the parent mutator into all of these, including shingles? Anyone else have Amyloid with RA, PA, Hypothyroidism, RyR2, FKTN and/or Gelsolin and/or Shingles? Just asking a question?
@kidsmomof9 Really just a question here. I have a systemic form of Autoimmune, Amyloidosis Gelsolin. Every tissue and fluid I have has been invaded by mutated proteins. I have been previously diagnosed with "Upon my first diagnosis, Sjogren's, I was advised that having just one auto immune disease is rare and to expect them to find more. Yes, they did. Primary Biliary Cholangitis, Hashimotos, Gastroparesis, Ulcerative Colitis, peripheral neuropathy GERD, arthritis. My eyes are too dry and I can rarely drive, lost my teeth to dry mouth." But my current diagnosis includes possible forms of Amyloidosis which shows all these symptoms, and now I have shingles as well. It makes me wonder if these systemic (impacts the whole bank of body tissues and fluids) are what you have, although it is quite rare. I can name a dystopia of every tissue from my toes to my cerebrum which is a result of Gelsolin. It is not violent, but the impact can be fatal, especially as it invades hearts, lungs, brain, pancreas, kidneys, liver, etc..
Wow ! Not something I am familiar with at all! Definitely something for me to research. Thank you!
Please what is RyR2 and EKTN and Gelsolin? I need to know this in order to keep up. I do not answer other posts because I do not know the abbreviations. I am sure other people need to know this so they can keep up with the conversations. It is awkward to leave the site to look up the abbreviations and then to come back to the conversation. Please excuse my awkwardness and old age of 82 as I do mean well. With love, Peach
Dear OldKarl, my eyes are so dry they are being treated by doctors and have also lost all teeth due to this. Gerd, two arthritis, Hashimotos, Rheumatoid and Psoriatic arthritis, Diabetes and right now the kidneys are ready for dialysis. These are among eight other medical problems to long to list. As well as now having Shingles. VERY IMPORTANT: Perhaps this Corona virus is prompting and producing the Shingles?
