Clearing of Mucus during/after an episode
Am interested in what remedies are available to clear mucus during and after an episode of bronchiectasis. Thanks very much.

@jengelage...postural drainage is very helpful...there are pictures online which shows many positions, but knowing where the damage is located will help you choose position...my damage is lower right lobe and my position is left side to help mucus drain.
@jengelage Hello, and happy New Year. I hope you are beginning to feel better after this recent exacerbation. My doctor prescribed 7% saline inhaled with a nebulizer. It helps to thin mucous and induces cough to bring it up. It has done wonders for me. Studies show that the saline (salt) helps to keep the bacteria at bay. Are you using it by any chance?
Thanks very much for for your response. I'm using a nebulizer and it is helpful, but seldom is there a productive cough to remove mucus. Am drinking a lot of water which seems to help. Am interested if others are having success with postural drainage? During an episode I can't breathe laying on my stomach or and can't sleep on my side, so there is a lot of mucus to somehow get rid of. As a result the episodes seem to drag out before I can fully recover. Have no fever this time, but have elevated breathing rates because of the mucus and as a result, a pulse in the 70s and 80s that is normally in the 60s. Recovery has been very slow.
