Does anybody know if there is a MAC specialist at Emory (Atlanta)?
I recently had a bronchoscopy, but I'm still waiting for the lab results. I've had two CT scan - the most recent one showed the nodules in my left lobes have gotten bigger, plus there are additional new nodules in the right lobe. Currently, I'm seeing a local pulmonologist, but I'm wondering if I should get a referral for a second opinion before starting a treatment plan. Thanks!

Hello @gela349 Yes there is a Bronchiectisis and MAC/MAI specialist at St Joseph Emory in Atlanta. His name is Dr Colin Swenson. I called 2 weeks ago and the 1st available was in May. After hearing my story his scheduler, Desiann, told me to gather the last 2 of everything I had (xrays, Ct's, Dr notes, culture reports etc) and to have them faxed or emailed as quick as I could as he would likely want to see me sooner. One hour later she called me back and I go in for my first appt on Jan 10th. I'm away from my notes or I'd give you his number but Google his name and go from there! Best of luck and if you need more help or info just ask or send me a private msg. Margie
@gela349 gosh, I see you just joined Mayo Connect today. Welcome and so glad you found us, you will find a very loving and knowledgeable community here. Others will join in with pointers on how best to navigate the site for the answers to many questions I'm sure you have. @windwalker
@gela349 I used Dr Colin Swenson at
Emory at St Joseph before I moved to Fl.
6 months ago. He is very easy to talk to and his staff is great. There is also a support group that meets at St Joseph quarterly. Good luck!
Great group.?
I used him too! Great doctor!
I'm sorry about the delay in responding - so busy with work, family and celebrating the holidays! Thank you so much for the recommends of Dr. Swenson! I'm still waiting on the results of my lung culture, but I feel less stressed knowing that there is a specialist near me if I need one!
@gela349 Glad you made it thru the holidays! Once less thing to stress about now that you know a specialist is near should you want to see him!
Where is this doctor? I live in MI.
He is in Atlanta. Sorry - not the news you were looking for.
@macjane Hi Jane, if you are looking for an NTM/Bronchiectisis specialist in Michigan, I found 2. You can go to http://www.ntminfo.org and click on physician referral by state. That's how I found my specialist in Atlanta Georgia. Hope this is helpful.
Thanks Margie, I wonder where University of Michigan doctors fit in? My Pulmonary doctor mentioned some doctors (no names) at Cleveland Clinic but I am due to go to Mayo in March. It was originally January but some other medical problems came up. I wonder why no doctor from U of Michigan did not appear. Did you see a doctor at Mayo?
