concerned over rising creatinine level.
Labs showed level increased from 1.5 to 1.7. All my other numbers were ok. GP took me off my BP ( lisinopril ) med for one week and then retest.( pending

@rans, interesting. I was recently hospitalized for exacerbation COPD from a cold virus and my cr was a little higher than it was when drawn at last doc visit. My BUN and cr are elevated anyway (stage 3 CKD.) I, too take Lisinopril. Emailed some concerns about this to my doc, who had his office call to schedule appointment next week to discuss. Also, I take insulin for diabetes and a couple of other meds I need (a statin and an anti-depressant) interfere with insulin absorption. I feel like I'm always between a rock and a hard place, including renal diet vs diabetic diet. Very frustrating. Usually I have a positive attitude and stay cheerful while doing everything I can to balance it all but lately am feeling overwhelmed.
Stage 4... I was taken off lisinporil about 8 months ago by my nep. I didn’t see much improvements in my labs after stopping, but, apparently it isn’t a good drug for kidneys.. My last lab (10/18)Crea 1.85, GFR 26.87. Improved a little after starting renal diet (9/18 Crea 1.96, GFR 25)...I go back 12/26 so I’m praying my diet changes will at least hold me at this level....my NA, K, P, Glucose & calcium were all within boundaries. Most were right in middle...dang Creatinine and GFR my issues. My GP had to increase my beta blocker because my BP just wouldn’t go down. I’m still “feeling” problems with my heart so, we will adddress when I see him. I’m concerned I’ll hv a darn heart attach before my kidneys fail...after reading, I know that’s like a 90% chance. Good luck and let’s keep posting....thank you!
@rans A while back, I was receiving treatment for kidney problems. I had my blood tested for creatinine every week or two. My creatinine level went up and down from week to week. I don't know if that's normal or not. Personally, I would be happy if the change in my creatinine level was only 0.2
@sissieann Asked my neph about Lisinopril, she said stay on it for now even though ACE inhibitors aren't kidney-friendly. When I'm feeling better I want to explore alternatives. Cr was 1. 4 in hospital this Dec, before that it was 1.41 in August, same value in Nov. @marvinjsturing, Down 1/100th of a point isn't exactly the progress I had hoped for. I guess some fluctuation in cr is normal, or so I'm told.
Like you I have many issues to consider as well. Triple by pass 3 years ago so I'm a little nervous about going off meds. Dr. said I should be ok for a week.
I probably wouldn't be as concerned except it puts me in that stage 3b catagory. Hopefully it will be down next week
Hope so.
Things to be concerned about keep popping up, don't they. I, too, take Lisinopril. Shall check this out, too.
My Cr was 3.62 in August. Last week it was 3.67. I also am on Lisinipril.
@marvenjsturing. Realized my nephrologist reduced my Lisinopril from 10 mg to 5 mg. Told me it was because of a change in my blood pressure - now, I'm not so sure. Anyhow, after almost a year, bp is 140/68. Cr is 1.0+/-. Think you might want to question your doctor. Hope this helps.
