Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

I'm grateful today to be on vacation at my parents home in Md, the weather here has broken and we get a reprieve before it heats up again by end of week. I'm grateful that this is the place my husband would choose over anywhere to spend his two weeks vacation time, how many people can say that their spouse prefers time with their in laws? And grateful my parents are in great health in their 80s.
I'd like to second @sandij--I take it for dry eyes! 🙂
That's great, @jakedduck1. Does your silver lining make enough meals to put in the freezer to heat up later in the week?
Hello All:
I subscribe to several different health-related blogs and posts. Just recently I received one with a podcast and article from NPR entitled from Gloom to Gratitude - 8 Skills to Cultivate Joy. You can listen to it, or read it. Here is the link:

Yep, life’s gonna be good for awhile. No ingredients to sort out, no chopping or any of that nonsense, no cooking, no dishes although I’ll still have to nuke it but I’ll tough it out. Before my friend left she shopped, cooked, served me and did the dishes. Life was almost perfect!

Hi Sheri,
I have a serious dry eye problem. Does the Omega really work? Do you still have to use drops? Do your dry eyes affect your vision? One day I can see certain things another day I can’t. Most of my Drusen are located in my Fovea which is in the macula and has the most cones. I’ve been up since 4 and my eyes were burning so bad I couldn’t open them. I fixed my mom’s breakfast with my eyes closed.

Yep, life is good for you @jakedduck1
Hi Jake,
I take two fish oil pearls each morning and they keep me from having to use eye drops except in the driest weather (December-March in MN). I am not great at preparing food with my eyes open much less closer so that is impressive! Sounds like you would still need to use eye drops (after googling drusen in the fovea--yikes. You've probably already done this, but I'd get in to a macular degeneration specialist's office asap).
@jakedduck1 this would be a perfect part-time job for me! Is this type of service private pay, or is this arranged through an agency?

@contentandwell
Yup, private pay. Wish you were close by.
Are ya gonna send me a ready made ham n cheese sandwich? Are ya??? Hang the expense!
Of course ham like most everything else is forbidden on my diet. But who’s gonna tell.
