Gratitude Discussion Group
Hi everyone! Just before Thanksgiving @michellegraffradford posted a blog called Gratitude Changes Everything. She suggested three techniques to help incorporate gratitude into our daily lives:
- Start the Day with Gratitude (before getting up think of three people you are grateful for)
- Maintain a Gratitude Journal to record times when you are grateful
- Count Blessings – not sheep! (Review the day and remember moments of gratitude)
Her blogpost was so inspiring that a lot of us decided we wanted to form a Gratitude Group to keep the attitude of gratitude going. The blogpost area is not an ideal space for a big discussion group so I am moving the discussion over here to the “Just Want to Talk” Group. Let’s use this space to share and discuss our Gratitude Journey. I’m going to suggest that we each try to take a minute from the day and post here what has made us feel thankful today. It can be as small as a stranger’s smile on the bus or as large as fulfilling a major life dream – or anywhere in between. We can also discuss how we are doing with the three techniques. Sometimes it is easier to form new habits with support from others.
Michelle's full blogpost is at the link below. You may want to review it or print it out to help get started!

I look forward to hearing from others in the Gratitude Group and to having others join us here! Thanks to those who already shared great stories. If you haven't yet, what gratitude will you share today?!

@contentandwell When I had my last one I drank 2 bottles ofCitrate
of Magnesiumm and apple juice in between
@lioness. I had three days of prep before my last colonoscopy. I couldn’t eat any raw fruits or vegetables and had a very mild diet leading into the formal prep because the colonoscopy prior to that had not had a good “cleanout”. My daily lunch is salad, I have fruit every morning, so this was difficult for me.

@contentandwell Wow that had to be hard is this what you have to go through again? Glad I had a different Dr. That sounds like it was pretty tough on you 😞
@quiteachiver75 I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS ITS HARD FOR ME TO GET A GOOD CLEAN OUT. AM GOING TO WORK HARD 😓 ON WHAT I EAT OVER THE NEXT THREE DAYS TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS I WANT SUCCESSFUL RESULTS TERESA
In October of last year I had to schedule my colonoscopy with a new doctor because the great doctor I had retired due to medical problems. He had always had me use Dulcolax, both bottles the night before. The new guy prescribed Suprep. I had a bad reaction and ended up in the hospital for 6 days. My pcp put in my records that I'm allergic to Suprep and that when I rescheduled that my prep would be done in the hospital. I'm so grateful for him.
Morning @debbraw- I've never been given a choice, but I have one coming up next yr and I'll ask if there are options! Thanks
@lioness It was tough but it was necessary since the prior colonoscopy was not really conclusive. The doctor is one of the best. He has recently moved out of Boston to NYC and I am really going to miss him.
JK
@parus - This is so heart warming to hear. Maybe you should keep him!
@contentandwell - JK, I think it is as effective as the others. 5 years ago, Miralax was not on the approved Mayo list for colonoscopy preps. This year, I was so delighted that it was. As careful as Mayo is, I'm sure lots of research went into giving it approval. This is probably more than you want to know, but Mayo assesses the quality of bowel preparation on each colonoscopy using the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale. On my results, they gave me the numerical rating on that scale and they said the quality of the prep was good.
Hi kids,
How much does everyone pay for gas? California has the second highest gas tax, over $.55 a gal. Voters rejected cutting the gas tax recently, thankfully. I paid $3.80 a gal today for regular unleaded but chevron is $4.27 a gal. Hate to think what it is in San Francisco. Calif has strict pollution requirements and the prices go up in summer, oh joy. Although it’s better than the 5+ dollar high of 2014 or so.
