Nebulizers and Aerobika. I don’t understand?!
Can someone tell me what a nebulizer is? I sent a message to the National Jewish Hospital and they said all their patients use the Aerobica. My doctor tried to order it a my pharmacy, but they don’t give it. Can someone explain all of these things to me?

@helem Hi Helen a nebuliser turns saline and other meds into steam to inhale and can get up sputum quite well. An aerobika is a flutter device that you blow into and vibrates, which also can get the sputum up. I find the nebuliser the best, they are both a bit time consuming but worth it. They can both be purchased online but the saline for the neb must come from a dr prescription. Hope this helps. Heather
@helem Nebulizer is a general term and Aerobika is a brand name for a type of nebulizer. There are different brands and types of nebulizers. Although you will read that nebulizers are devices for delivering medicine via mist inhaled into lungs, for most of us, those who suffer from bronchiectasis, etc., we are using saline rather than medicine to induce and thin out mucus. Here are a few links where you can read about what a nebulizer is and how Aerobika is used.

If you need to know more, I suggest you google the key words, such as nebulizer or Aerobika to access more web sites. Hope this helps.

My doctor tried to order one at that pharmacy and they knew nothing about it. Thanks for all the helpful answers to my last questions. I just need to know where to get one.
@helem When you say "my doctor", is this doctor a pulmonologist? I'm seeing a pulmonologist and got one from him directly from his office after an appointment during which he thought I should use one. Of course I had to pay the co-pay part of the cost.
Hi @helem you may have noticed I moved your message about where to get an Aerobika to the discussion you started yesterday. I did this so you can connect easily with the people who are talking about the Aerobika and to have all the responses in one place for you and other members to find easily later on.
You mentioned that your doctor tried to order it from your pharmacy but they don’t carry it. Is your doctor looking for other ways to get one for you?
@helem I got mine off ebay.
@helem just ordered mine off eBay. No prescription needed. I have watch many tutorials on YouTube about both the Aerobika and the Acapella PEP devices. I also like to read customer reviews. Basically just learning all I can.

Thanks so much. I found one online and ordered it.
