How did you manage the pain side effects of Prolia?
I had prolia injection a week ago. I've developed lower back pain and severe spasms. The spasms are so bad I can hardly get out of bed or even out of a chair. Is there anything I can do or take to alleviate this awful pain.

Skin problems are listed as a common side effect of Prolia. Some women are reporting good results with a newer med called Evenity. Ask about all the other osteoporosis meds which might be better options for you (the bisphosphonates, Forteo).
I persist with Prolia (5 injections) eventhough it has made g.i. issues worse (the doctors say not the Prolia, but...) However, your experience has been terrible. Give yourself time to heal and hopefully you will once again be back to your "nimble self." BTW, is your doctor your family doc or is a specialist treating you? I see an endocrinologist.

That sounds like terrible side effects. May I ask if there is an alternative treatment and/or if you have considered getting a second opinion at a specialty hospital?
@JustinMcClanahan, my doctor has started me on Prolia and I had my first injection last month. I didn’t have any side effects - not even soreness in my arm after the injection.
Prolia is advertised to death- the death of our bones or what's left of them. The outer bone structure is strengthened (as bone density tests will show), while inner bone structure is dying. I had terrible side effects on this "forever med". Got off of it; don't plan to "re-enlist".
@billie3 are you going on a "relay" drug now that you have stopped (to prevent spinal fractures)? What side effects did you experience? I have had five injections.
@migizii I understand a number of people I have read here relay their negative reactions to Prolia, but I would like to say that I have had a number of injections with no side effects. Each person needs to consider their specific journey in managing their osteoporosis in the best way they know. What works for one person may or may not work for another person. Let there be grace to all of you in your journeys.
I have also not had any side effects. I had a very large increase in bone density after 6 years that disappeared two years later. My doctor is still scratching her head over that one.
@migizii always good to hear from someone who has no side effects. Has your bone density improved? I have had improvement in both the hip and the spine. Next injection in July.
Hello dublin18 and @parrotqueen, I am Sunnyflower. I am also very sorry to hear about what you are going through dublin18. I too have taken the advice of parrotqueen but won't have another DEXA scan for about 1.5 years. I also have been taking Boron for quite some time now but only 3mg., twice daily w/ food. I've read you can safely have up to 20mg / day so I need to increase my dose. @parrotqueen, I would like to know why the two different types of magnesium? My Naturopathic doctor recommended I take Magnesium Glycinate which I have been forever. Could you please expound just a bit on why you also take the magnesium
L-threonate? Thanks so much! I've learned from you, others on the blog and my nutritionist, so much! One thing is that for vitamin D to do it's work helping us to absorb calcium, that it needs to have some fat w/ it. I didn't realize it but I wasn't eating any fat with that meal and very little in a day, not by intent, just didn't realize. So now I have 1/4 of an avacado w/ my yogurt, D and supplements. I've also added spinach to my diet as I wasn't eating any dark leafy greens. I have joined the Facebook group Osteoporosis Natural Remedies thanks to you parrotqueen.
