I had a burst L4 compression fracture in July still dealing with pain and problems they want me to do a 3 level fusion. I went to a neurosurgeon in the twin cities. No going for a 2nd opinion as I want to get out of this turtle shell.
@suerc When I had my fracture L2 Orthopedic Dr put me in turtle shell for 3months then aqua therapy for 9 months this is something you don't want to rush or you will have more back problems.Listen to your Dr.and therapist Its been over 10 years and I wont twist or bend backwards.
I saw my primary doctor then the pain management doctor then the neurosurgeon. My L4 was fractured all the way through so I had no choice but surgery. It has been a rough go. They called it a complicated spinal fusion. I am very blessed to be able to function pretty well with a pain level of 2-3 most days.
@suerc No I refused the surgery for various reasons but I did listen to Dr and therapist I am able to function normally except I cant clean my floors , its the continous motion I cant do and I do have to rest everyday .Did you have surgery? It was a full year it took to heal but I still do chair exercises I just dont twist or bend backwards How are you doing?
@suer nWhen I fractured my back I was sent to E R for x rayd first then Orthopedic Dr took care of me I was in a turtle she'll brace then P.T all together it was 9 months recovery I refused surgery that was ,13 yrs ago I do everything except clean floors I'm here if you want to talk

Thank you so much. I am so afraid of fusion surgery. I have not heard very good things about it. I would rather heal on my own if I can. I have to much on my agenda left. Mayo turned me down for a consult as they said they did not have anything to offer me other than what my Neuro Dr said. Fusion.

@sherry44 I replied to suerc about the same thing.I fractured my L2 my Dr sent me to the Emergency Room they did x-ray which you must have had didn't you see an Orthopedic Dr? I was in a turtle shell brace for 3months ,slept without it then P. T. For 6 month's .That is who you need to see .I refused to have surgery I didn't want cement put in to build up the vertebra Grandmar on here has had this but I didnt but you need a Orthopedic Dr.

No Surgery. I don't know what to do. I am looking for a Dr that will give me other options other than surgery. In minneaponis.

@suer Ask your Dr. to refer you to an Orthopedic Dr. May I ask you if you,ve had an x-ray yet?If you have what vertebra is effected?
